John Carpenter's latest horror movie, The Ward, has taken a long time to reach theaters. Carpenter's last move was 2001's Ghosts of Mars, a box office disappointment that left Carpenter admittedly feeling "fed up with the movie business".
The Ward returns Carpenter to the kind of horror movies that helped launch his career with 1978's Halloween and 1980's The Fog, and follows Amber Heard (Drive Angry) as a woman in a psychiatric hospital that finds herself and her fellow patients — Danielle Panabaker (The Crazies), Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass), and Mamie Gummer (Stop Loss) — haunted by a ghost.
The Ward opened in Britain in January, and last month found distribution in the U.S. Two new preview clips have been released to promote the movie, which follows Heard as she investigates the spirit that is haunting the hospital.
While no release date has been formally announced for The Ward, IMdB has the release date listed as April 15. Jared Harris co-stars.
