Director Xavier Gens' (Hitman) new post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, The Divide, was one of the breakout successes of the recent South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival held in Austin, Texas. After premiering on the last day of the event, a bidding war broke out for the U.S. distribution rights, with Anchor Bay winning out with a bid in the "low seven figures."
Written by first-time feature writers Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean, The Divide follows a group of eight strangers as they seek refuge in the basement of an apartment building following a cataclysmic explosion in New York City. Check out the two new preview clips below to find out why one reviewer of the SXSW screening described it as "the bleakest, most brutal picture imaginable of a post-apocalyptic world."
The ensemble cast of The Divide includes Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia,
Lauren German and Rosanna Arquette. No release date has been set as of yet.
