Director Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer will arrive in theaters next summer.
Box Office Mojo reports New Line Pictures has set the movie to open on June 15, 2012, opposite the Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You, Dad.
Written by Christopher McQuarrie, Darren Lemke, and Mark Bonback, Jack the Giant Killer is a retelling of the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale that sees a young farmer named, appropriately, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) who leads a rescue attempt to save a princess (Eleanor Tomlinson, who won the role over Adelaide Kane earlier this month) that has been kidnapped by a giant. Bill Nighy, and John Kassir play the two-headed leader of the giants, Stanley Tucci plays the king's villainous adviser, and Ewan McGregor was cast last month as the leader of the king's guard. AS for who will play the king, that was also answered this week.
THR reported earlier this week that Ian McShane, fresh from portraying the pirate Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, will play King Brahmwell, who disapproves of his daughter's romance with the young farmer.
