Plot Details Emerge for Piranha 3DD

Those who enjoyed the guilty pleasure of Piranha 3D have to be curious about what director John Gulager and screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton had in mind for the sequel, appropriately titled Piranha 3DD. Details have finally emerged. WARNING: If you don't want the sequel spoiled, proceed with caution. But, really, is there a way to spoil Piranha 3DD?
Bloody-Disgusting reports the prehistoric piranha from the original will make their way into the water supply of a newly opened waterpark, "Wilderness Waters." The town eventually scrambles to rid itself of the creatures. The plot, if true, sounds a little like that of 1983's Jaws 3-D where the shark makes its way into a sea park. Piranha 3D paid homage to Jaws by adding Richard Dreyfus to its opening scene as the same character he played in the 1975 classic.
The sequel will start shooting at the end of May in North Carolina, but will not open on September 16 as originally scheduled. Instead, the sequel has been pushed back to November 23, just in time for Thanksgiving.
One reason for the delay could be a rewrite. Moviehole reports that producer Joel Soisson has been brought on board to not only produce but to rewrite the script. Soisson has worked with Gulager, Dunstan, and Melton before on 2006's Feast and has produced or directed a variety of horror and genre movies.
Now that the sequel has a start date, the production can begin putting together a cast, which is currently empty, though Ving Rhames has said that he could return, despite his character's seeming demise. Rumors floating around the Internet have Tara Reid joining the cast, but those rumors, unfortunately, are false. Completely plausible, but false.
