Director Craig Gillespie's (Lars and the Real Girl) new movie, Fright Night, an updated remake of the 1985 comedy-horror classic about a boy who believes his next door neighbor is a blood-sucking vampire, wrapped in October of last year and we finally have our first sneak peak at the movie in the form of three new still images. Unfortunately, the stills are not HD-quality, but they still give us our first looks at Anton Yelchin as the new Charley Brewster, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as the new "Evil" Ed Thompson, Imogen Poots as the new Amy Peterson, and Colin Farrell as the new Jerry Dandridge, the aforementioned vampire next door.
Here's the official synopsis of the Fright Night remake:
Senior Charley Brewster (Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charley’s mom (Toni Collete), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charley comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charley has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself.
The Fright Night remake script was written by Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon. David Tennant also stars as the new Peter Vincent, a magician and charlatan who tries to help Charley with his vampire problem.
