Ben Affleck to Join The Great Gatsby

Just when we were getting used to Ben Affleck to being a director, he's back to being an actor again.
Deadline reports that Affleck is in talks to join director Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Affleck would play Tom Buchanan, the husband of Daisy, the role Carey Mulligan was cast in back in November of last year. Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly set to play title character Jay Gatsby, with Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, the book's narrator.
Scheduling may be an issue, since Affleck is looking to follow up last year's The Town by directing Argo, a political thriller about the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis and based on a Wired magazine article titled "How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran" that described how the CIA dressed up the hostages as a fake sci-fi movie crew in order to get them out of the country. Affleck is reportedly looking to make time in his schedule for Gatsby, which reportedly will start shooting in August.
Luhrmann's Gatsby is the latest theatrical version since the 1974 version (a TV movie was made in 2000), which had Bruce Dern in the role of Tom Buchanan.
