Backlash from Pia Toscano's American Idol elimination continues nearly a week later, as executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is dismissing rumors that the voting was rigged, or that it was done to generate controversy. Speaking at a Hollywood Radio & Television Society luncheon, Lythgoe tried putting it in perspective. "There are always conspiracy theories, but you know we are so careful. [Voting is] done through AT&T and we get the results. It's done so openly. We've got all the terrible things happening around the world with Libya, with Japan and what's everyone talking about? 'How did Pia get voted off?'"
Meanwhile, TMZ snapped a pic of Pia boarding an LA bound plane at JFK, presumably back for another date with Dancing With the Stars pro Mark Ballas.
Speaking of DWTS, boxer Sugar Ray Leonard was eliminated from the reality show last night and today has to withstand a flurry of puns, as he was "knocked out," "KOd," and "threw his final punch."
People has declared Jennifer Lopez the most beautiful woman in the world, to which the 41 year-old JLo says simply, "Being beautiful is part of my job."
High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale poses naked for Allure magazine's May nude shoot, and is joined by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, and 40 year-old Bridget Moynahan, who has a child with Tom Brady.
Charlie Sheen's "Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour appears to be on fumes as an indifferent Boston crowd didn't even bother to heckle or chant and just got up and left, in spite of an on-stage appearance from Jersey Shore's Pauly D. The Boston Globe's Don Aucoin called it "a witless barrage of non sequiturs, non-stories, non-jokes — a non-event, start to finish."
Golfer Phil Mickelson didn't like that an Augusta, GA, Krispy Kreme used a 2010 drive-thru photo of him wearing the Masters green jacket without his permission and threatend legal action. Meanwhile, former Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel went PDA-heavy and bikini-lite on Miami Beach with new beau Matt Hahn.
Advertisers are being asked to have to pay $1M for a 30-second spot on Oprah Winfrey's last show, which airs May 25th. That number is not in Friends ($2M) or Seinfeld ($1.4M) territory, but more than the last episode of Lost ($900K), X-Files ($680K), and Cheers ($650K).
