The movie wasn't screened for critics but we got fan reaction to the movie at last night's first showing. See what the fans thought. Posted 04.10.09 by reelz
A new UK version of the international trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is out. Actually it's a cleaned up version of the Japanese trailer that had aired earlier this year. This version lacks the intro welcome by Daniel Radcliffe but offers much better video quality and doesn't have the very distracting Japanese narration and subtitles. Posted 04.10.09 by reelz
Now that the cat's out of the bag with a full-length screening in Austin and the official world premiere in Sydney, two more scenes from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek have trickled online. Both play up the humor and highlight the way key characters have diverged from the original -- basic personalities intact but re-imagined and revved up for a 21st century audience. We get a glimpse of what Chris Pine meant when he said that the reboot had been "sexed up for a new generation." It's no intergalactic flying orgy, but this Kirk is definitely stepping out of the shadow of his predecessor when he tries to pick up Uhura at a bar by remarking that she has a "talented tongue." And Karl Urban's shockingly unspaceworthy McCoy takes it up a notch as well reciting a litany of phobias and blandly warning Kirk "I might throw up on you." Posted 04.09.09 by reelz
Director Jon Favreau has started shooting Iron Man 2 and we've got the first footage showing the actors making their way to and from the set. Admittedly, it's not much, but only exciting because it showcases many of the key characters. From this, we even learn that comedian Garry Shandling is in the movie! Posted 04.09.09 by reelz
The co-star of Seth Rogen's latest vehicle, Observe and Report, Anna Faris turned heads at last night's premiere in Los Angeles. An actress since the age of 9, Faris has appeared in more than a dozen feature films, including the four Scary Movie movies, and with two comedic performances alongside Ryan Reynolds in Waiting and Just Friends. Faris appeared in several episodes during the final season of Friends and she received wider recognition as an actress following her appearnce in Brokeback Mountain.
Written and directed by Jody Hill, Observe and Report also stars Ray Liotta (Revolver) and features an appearance by up-and-coming comedic actor Danny McBride (Eastbound and Down). While superficially similar to Kevin James' latest project, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Observe and Report has been described as a darker, more mature film, with Rogen commenting:
They're totally different movies.
Observe and Report synopsis courtesy of Warner Bros.:
At the Forest Ridge Mall, Head of security Ronnie Barnhardt (SETH ROGEN) patrols his jurisdiction with an iron fist. The master of his domain, he combats skateboarders, shoplifters and the occasional unruly customer while dreaming of the day when he can swap his flashlight for a badge and a gun.
Ronnie's delusions of grandeur are put to the test when the mall is struck by a flasher. Driven by his personal duty to protect and serve the mall and its patrons, Ronnie seizes the opportunity to showcase his underappreciated law enforcement talents on a grand scale, hoping his solution to the crime will earn him a coveted spot at the police academy and the heart of his elusive girl Brandi (ANNA FARIS), the hot makeup counter clerk who won't give him the time of day.
But his single-minded pursuit of glory launches a turf war with the equally competitive Detective Harrison (RAY LIOTTA) of the Conway Police, and Ronnie is confronted with the challenge of not only catching the flasher, but getting him before the real cops do. Posted 04.08.09 by BrentJS
Insider sources on the Iron Man 2 set recently reported a visit by Garry Shandling, the hilarious actor and comedian of It's Garry Shandling's Show and the satirical late night talk show spoof, The Larry Sanders Show. It has been rumored that Shandling will appear as Senator Stern, the character in the X-Men mythos who uses his political power to champion the Mutant Registration Act.
Now, according to IESB, Gary Oldman, the chameleonic actor who became famous playing gruesome villains in True Romance, The Professional and The Fifth Element, and who recently portrayed Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight, has been spotted on the set. There was no speculation about what character (if any) Oldman will portray or how long he will be on set, especially considering the fact that he is currently filming The Book of Eli.
This wouldn't be the first time that an actor appearing in a major motion picture based upon a character from one of the "big two" comic book companies made the leap to a film based on a character from the competition. James Marsden portrayed Marvel Comics' Cyclops in all three X-Men films and then appeared in DC Comics' Superman Returns as Lois Lane's love interest. Posted 04.08.09 by BrentJS
In the wake of the April Fool's Day Internet leak of an unfinished version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Fox called the FBI to hunt down the person responsible for the leak, sibling company Fox News fired a columnist who wrote a glowing review of the pirated movie, and now, Hugh Jackman has publicly condemned the leak.
On a promotional tour for Wolverine in his native Australia, Jackman showed 20 minutes of footage from the movie and spoke out about the pirated version.
It's a serious crime and there's no doubt it's very disappointing --I was heartbroken by it. Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It's like a Ferrari without a paint job.
Fox has a lot riding on Wolverine's success. Three potential movies - X-Men Origins: Magneto, X-Men: First Class and Deadpool - will live or die if Wolverine dies at the box office, not to mention other Wolverine sequels. Considering the almost one million downloads of the unfinished version, Fox is justifiably nervous. Posted 04.07.09 by Ryan
With Thor's opening day moved to 2011, director Kenneth Branagh can take his time with casting. While several actors have been rumored for the role, Fighting actor Channing Tatum has been officially removed from consideration. Tatum told MTV that, while he did meet with Branagh about the role, he is no longer a candidate. "I think they're looking for someone more Nordic-looking." Considering Thor is a Norse god, Tatum may be onto something.
Tatum had no further information on whether Branagh will cast Alexander Skarsgård or any of the other rumored actors currently testing for the role. Posted 04.07.09 by Ryan
