Paramount has started to distribute the first still images from JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot to major sites around the web.
Slashfilm has collected a gallery of the images, and higher-resolution versions can be found on MTV, AICN, JoBlo, and UGO.
Judging by the comments around the web, the fans seem pleased with the new images. The coolest shot portrays Zachary Quinto's Spock applying what appears to be the Vulcan death grip to an unnamed foe. Posted 10.16.08 by reelz

When news broke that Frost/Nixon, the acclaimed stage play from British playwright Peter Morgan, was going to be adapted for the big screen with Academy favorite Ron Howard attached to direct, pundits immediately pegged it as a potential Oscar contender.
Looks like something was lost in the translation.
According to Los Angeles Times writer Patrick Goldstein, reviews so far have been decidedly mixed for the flick, which premiered last night at the London Film Festival. Criticism for Frost/Nixon is broad-based, with director Howard and co-stars Frank Langella and Michael Sheen all taking their lumps.
Frost/Nixon could very well turn out to be the Mitt Romney of the Oscar race: Good-looking, highly-hyped, and destined for an early exit. Posted 10.15.08 by reelz
Rising stars Kristen Bell and Malin Akerman have joined Sex and the City's Kristin Davis as the female leads in the romantic comedy Couples Retreat. The script is from Jon Favreau, who somehow found the time to pen a screenplay while working 20-hour days on the Iron Man set. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Couples Retreat's story revolves around "four couples who go to a tropical island resort, with one couple working on their marriage and the others sucked into the resort's couples therapy." One can only hope that a series of grisly murders ensues. Now that would be funny.
Playing the male leads in Couples Retreat will be Favreau, Vince Vaughn (shocking!), Jason Bateman, and Faizon Love. THR says that "Bell is playing Bateman's wife, Davis plays Favreau's wife, and Akerman plays Vaughn's." Which begs the only slightly ironic question: Where's the love for Faizon?
Handling the directorial duties is A Christmas Story's Peter Billingsley. Posted 10.15.08 by reelz
In a surprising turn of events for the Iron Man franchise, Terrence Howard has reportedly been replaced by Don Cheadle as Rhodey/War Machine in Iron Man 2.
According to the generally reliable gossip site Defamer, Howard's deal fell through because the actor wanted more money than the studio was willing to pay. Defamer also claims that Howard was stipulating that his single with Seal and Heidi Klum become the sequel's "love theme."
We may never know what happened for sure, but either way, Howard's role as Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes has come to an end after one pic and it will be Cheadle who gets to step into the hotly-anticipated War Machine costume.

Star Trek fan site TrekMovie.com reports that the first trailer for J.J. Abrams' hotly anticipated Star Trek reboot will likely be attached to the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, which opens November 14.
Paramount had reportedly eyed a number of titles as possible fits for the Trek trailer's debut, but settled on the new Bond movie.
So is the Bond crowd and Trekkie fan base one and the same? While there is certainly crossover, the move most certainly signals Paramount and Abrams' plan to seed out the reboot to more than the usual Trek fan base, whose attendance is already guaranteed.
So come November 14th, don't be surprised to see a few Spock ears amongst the martini and tuxedo crowd. Posted 10.14.08 by reelz
