This weekend Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns hits theaters nationwide. The director has been on quite a hot streak at theaters over the last few years successfully converting his stage shows to the big screen. Although some critics have been baffled by their success, Perry's movies have an undeniably loyal fan following that seem to identify with the world Perry (and his elderly alter ego in drag, Madea) have created. Although Madea only makes a brief appearance in Meet the Browns, the wisdom she has taught us over the course of Tyler Perry's filmography applies not just to his movies, but to life in general. In an exclusive from Hawa Macalou, Tyler Perry's Madea offers up five lessons to live by.
The Directors TV show on ReelzChannel TV will air the Anthony Minghella episode in his honor starting tonight at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT with encore performances throughout the rest of the week. Minghella died suddenly in London at the age of 54 after an apparent hemmorhage. The writer/director had entered Charing Cross Hospital last week for a routine surgery of a growth on his neck.
Minghella is best known for his work on such films as The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain and The English Patient, the latter of which earned him a Best Director Oscar in 1997. Posted 03.19.08 by reelz
Okay, well he's not actually a Terminator and the deal isn't quite set yet, but the Hollywood Reporter says Anton Yelchin (Charlie Bartlett) is in talks to play a young Kyle Reese in the upcoming fourth installment of the Terminator franchise. Posted 03.19.08 by reelz
Yelchin better prepare for a lifetime of ComiCon appearances because he is also currently shooting a role as Chekov in J.J Abrams' 2009 Star Trek reboot.
The constantly in-demand Paul Haggis (Crash) is also in talks to offer a polish on the Terminator script prior to the start of filming in May. Haggis has offered his polish work to two Bond flicks, Casino Royale and the upcoming Quantum of Solace.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is directed by McG (We Are Marshall) and stars Christian Bale as John Connor.
