This summer will see plenty of comic book movies and assorted blockbusters, but for those who enjoy more genre fare, enter Into the Storm. Opening August 8, the movie follows the town of Silverton as its inhabitants attempt to survive the mother of all tornadoes. The "found footage" thriller stars The Walking Dead's Sarah Wayne Callies as a meteorologist who pairs with a storm chaser (Veep's Matt Walsh) in order to track tornado data. "It's a bit of a contentious marriage of convenience," Callies told USA Today.
Enter The Hobbit's Richard Armitage, who plays an assistant school principal in search of his son during the tornado onslaught. According to director Steven Quale (Final Destination 5), what "Gravity did to space, [Into the Storm] will do to natural phenomena and weather."
While that is quite a boast, Quale apparently got a vote of confidence from his mentor, James Cameron, who, according to the director, called the movie's special effects "flawless."
Audiences can now judge for themselves, as the first trailer is now online and available to view below. watch the Phantasm Ravager trailer, too >>
