In Looper, writer-director Rian Johnson's (Brick) new time-tripping action thriller opening this Friday, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (JGL) plays a hitman ("looper") tasked with terminating his own future self (Bruce Willis), who is sent back in time so that there will be no trace of the crime in the future. Talk about a head trip! This plot has "time paradox" written all over it. If JGL kills Willis, wouldn't he remember that happening and try to prevent it from happening when he grows up to be Willis? And, if Willis kills JGL, wouldn't he simply cease to exist?
Looper isn't the first movie to delve into the complex moral and metaphysical conundrums inherent in time travel. In The Terminator, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) is sent back in time by John Connor, the future leader of the resistance against the machines, and ends up becoming Connor's dad. And in Back to the Future, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) goes back in time to save his friend and is almost erased from history when his mother (Lea Thompson) starts crushing on him. Keanu Reeves has been talking about a third Bill & Ted movie since last September, when he revealed that screenwriters Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon were "going to try and see if they can write something" worthy of a sequel.
In January, Reeves said the sequel would see Theodore "Ted" Logan (Reeves) and Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) still trying to save the world in the present day with "a lot of time-traveling" involved.
In a recent interview with MTV, Reeves revealed that a Bill & Ted 3 script was "six weeks away" from completion, adding: "No pressure, guys!" whoah! Reeves is a samurai? >> Posted 04.05.11 by Ryan
There's The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Van-Halen, U2, and Wyld Stallyns.
Not familiar with the last band? Maybe the names Ted Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esq. ring a bell.
Keanu Reeves, who played Ted in 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure said a third movie about the time-traveling slackers would be "fun."
It would just be us older guys playing the characters - we'd be older and it would be funny; they're supposed to save the world and they're turning 50.
Reeves has been trying to get a third Bill & Ted movie off the ground. He said he has had talks with Alex Winter, who played Bill, and writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. where will Bill & Ted go on their third adventure? Posted 01.14.11 by reelz
While movie audiences are familiar with Hollywood's penchant for sequels and remakes, but would movie studios consider a third Bill & Ted adventure? The 1989 original introduced audiences to Bill S. Preston, Esq (Alex Winter) and Theodore "Ted" Logan (Keanu Reeves) and their first time-traveling "Excellent Adventure," which continued in the 1991 sequel, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Reeves, who moved on to movie stardom with hits like Speed and The Matrix while Winter became a director, told MTV that they are "trying" to make a third Bill & Ted movie. Isn't there something inherently great about watching people set aside their individual differences, tap their inner resources, and apply themselves to a greater goal?
Well, a large number of moviemakers must think so — they've taken the basic team-building idea and run with it in so many directions that not even a 'copter piloted by The A-Team's "Howling Mad" Murdock could track them all down. If we weren't busy building a tank out of a water cooler and some stuff we found in the stationery closet, we'd provide a comprehensive list. Instead, here are the 10 most-memorable team-ups.
