Today is Valentine's Day and love is in the air. And we're not talking about platonic love or brotherly love, tough love or self-love, but romantic love — the real hearts-and-flowers, butterlies-in-your-stomach type of love that sets your soul on fire and makes you feel like you're walking on air. Scientists may say that the euphoria we feel when we are in the embrace of romantic love is merely a chemical response with evolutionary advantages, but anyone who has truly experienced it knows that it feels far more like magic than science. Though romantic love is nearly impossible to define or describe to others, great filmmakers are often capable of capturing just enough of that magic feeling that we recognize it in their films and respond to it with our sighs and our laughs and our tears. Light a few candles, pour a couple glasses of wine or sparkling cider and help us select the most romantic movies of the past twenty years.

Mr. Big has finally taken the plunge. Sex and the City's Chris Noth married his longtime fiancée, Tara Wilson, earlier this month. Like Carrie and Big, the couple had known each other for 10 years before tying the knot. Noth and Wilson had been engaged since 2009 and they're already the parents of a 4-year-old son.

The PRC has some problems with Titanic in 3-D. Apparently, the scene in which Rose (Kate Winslet) takes off her top to pose for Jack's drawing has been censored in China, and only shows the actress from the neck up. The Chinese State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television has stated that the scene was censored "out of consideration of building a harmonious ethical social environment." Well if that was the reason, one would think they would have edited out that overplayed, over-the-top, overwrought song rather than Winslet's breasts.

It's official: Marc Anthony has filed for divorce from Jennifer Lopez. Unsurprisingly, "irreconcilable differences" were stated as the reason for the divorce on the papers filed April 9. He is asking for joint custody of the couple's 4-year-old twins.

Guns N' Roses front man Axl Rose declined an induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame via a long, rambling, self-aggrandizing, and occasionally coherent open letter released yesterday. The induction ceremony is planned for Saturday in Cleveland, but Rose won't be there due to the fact that the "Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony doesn't appear to be somewhere (he's) actually wanted or respected." In addition, Rose wants to "let sleeping dogs lie or lying dogs sleep or whatever" and wants to let fans know that "maybe if it were you it'd be different. Maybe you'd do it for this reason or that. Peace, whatever."

In other angry (though far more intelligible) letter news, Mel Gibson and screenwriter Joe Eszterhas are publicly feuding after The Wrap obtained a 9-page letter Eszterhas sent to Gibson. The two had planned to collaborate on The Maccabbees, a movie that they had envisioned as a sort of "Jewish Braveheart." The collaboration apparently did not go well. The letter accuses Gibson of regularly making anti-Semitic slurs, dismissing the holocaust, and hating Jews. It also recounts instances of Gibson making violent threats against his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Gregorieva, as well as a description of a dinner party that ended up with Gibson screaming at a priest. Mel Gibson responded by writing an open letter to Eszterhas. Gibson stated that Eszterhas's letter was full of fabrications and that the real reason the collaboration failed was because of the poor quality of the script the screenwriter delivered.

Mega-director James Cameron has quite an impressive resume, with movies that range from Avatar to The Terminator. However, he is arguably best known for his work on the 1997 blockbuster hit, Titanic, staring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The dedicated director, producer, film editor, and writer made more than 30 dives into the deep before creating his $2B masterpiece.
Now, almost 15 years after Titanic debuted and won the hearts of millions, Cameron is headlining a two-hour documentary to be aired on the National Geographic Channel in memory of the disaster's 100th anniversary. Michael Cascio, executive VP of programming for the network, described Cameron as a "Titanic freak" saying, “he is obsessed with trying to find out why exactly it sank. He’s actually comparing his research with his film to see what we’ve learned since then and what can advance the story.” Hmmmm, sounds like there may be another Titanic re-release after the 3-D version hits theaters on April 6, 2012.

In 1997, director James Cameron made a sweeping period epic knowing that there could never be a sequel, but it turns out that a 3-D re-release was quite possible.
The first poster for the April re-release of Titanic features Jack and Rose, and reminds audiences that Leonardo DiCaprio was once a teen heartthrob, and that the now sleek and sophisticated Kate Winslet was once a wide-eyed ingenue. In the poster, the two kids cling to each other, proving that even after all this time they've never let go.
We'll see in April if fans of Titanic are still as enchanted by the star-crossed, post-Edwardian-era lovers. We'll also see if the addition of 3-D effects gives any depth to Billy Zane's decidedly uni-dimensional villain, Cal Hockley.
The first trailer for the re-release is exclusively on the the movie's Facebook page and includes an introduction from Cameron, himself. While the trailer doesn't contain any surprises, it does contain a certain Celine Dion song that many, perhaps, had thought they'd already heard for the last time. But like Rose's heart, that song does go on and on.

After the huge success of Avatar, director James Cameron can probably work on any movie he wants. Cameron has a variety of projects lined up, producing At the Mountains of Madness for director Guillermo del Toro and possibly directing an adaptation of Battle Angel before he starts work on Avatar 2. For now, Cameron is progressing on different versions of Avatar for various DVD and Blu-Ray releases and is trying to convert his Titanic to 3-D. Cameron told The New York Times that he is in "the early stages of [the 3-D conversion] process" on Titanic.
We’ve been moving very slowly to make sure that we do it right, and we’ve basically gone to every single vendor who does 3-D conversion, that’s a credible vendor, and there were seven that we have received tests from. We’ve analyzed the tests, in a couple of cases we sent them back and told them to remake parts of it, because it was unacceptable, and now we’re baking off the different vendors against each other and we’re going to choose the top two or three vendors and we’re going to split the show up between them. That’s our game plan. So we maximize the quality. Everybody’s busy now because there’s a lot of conversion work.

James Cameron changed the modern movie landscape with his 3-D Avatar, officially the highest-grossing movie of all time. The success of Avatar led studios to evaluate their movie slates, looking for titles ripe for a 3-D conversion. In addition, other movies began production in 3-D. Now it seems the format will continue to dominate for the next few years, if not longer. While Cameron may be indirectly blamed for the 3-D craze that movies are undergoing, he doesn't have to like it. Cameron told Vanity Fair that the 3-D boom was "not his fault."
