On a recent episode of Secret's Out, I recommended Be Kind Rewind, a new comedy co-starring Mos Def, the hip hop performer who's turned out to be a first-rate actor. Today, I want to single out his role in 2005's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
In the film, Martin Freeman plays Arthur Dent, an ordinary fellow who wakes up one day with no idea that the earth is on the verge of destruction, until he's rescued at the very last minute by his friend Ford Prefect, a cool character played by Mos Def who turns out to be an alien. That's just the beginning of Arthur's mind-blowing odyssey in space and time, in this deliciously droll blend of satire and science fiction. You can find The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on DVD.
