One of 2012's most anticipated movies has to be director Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, so it's not surprising that a recently released first trailer or the extended prologue to the sequel playing before select IMAX showings of Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol would be enough for fans anxiously awaiting the upcoming sequel. One such fan, editor-director Brad Hansen, has created his own version of the Dark Knight Rises trailer, using the audio from the trailer over footage from Disney's The Lion King. The result is eerily successful.

After bringing Simba into the third dimension, Disney is taking four movies out of its back catalog and converting them to 3-D for release next year.
We're not sure where this ranks on the complaints that Hollywood is making too many sequels, prequels or remakes, but the cause is the same: familiarity equates to big box office dollars. Look at The Lion King's two-week, September run at the top of the box office, for example. The conversion cost $10 million, and The Lion King made $29.3 million in its (re)opening weekend alone. Disney likely knew that The Lion King would be successful, but not that successful.

Empire Magazine quizzed Disney producer/director Don Hahn and learned about some of his current hot projects. First of all, it sounds as though we'll be seeing a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel soon, and second, Simba will be getting the 3-D treatment.
I'm actually trying to work out a 3D conversion of The Lion King. I'll be doing that when I go back to the States in a couple of weeks. It's going to be spectacular — we will do a good job for ya! The technology is tremendous. We did A Nightmare Before Christmas a few years ago and Tim (Burton) thought it was better than the original because it allows you to walk onto the set.

Hollywood loves "The Bard," and it's easy to see why — so powerful was his Romeo and Juliet that the heartbroken of today still write to Juliet in her home town of Verona, spilling their (real, living) souls out to that most famous of all (fictional, dead) lovers.
