Bond month continues on Reelz tonight with the Pierce Brosnan starrer Tomorrow Never Dies. After the success of 1995's GoldenEye, the era of Brosnan as 007 was in full swing, and the studio rushed to bring out another installment, so much so that pre-production began on Tomorrow Never Dies before GoldenEye even reached theaters. Without an Ian Fleming novel to use as source material, an original story was concocted that sent Bond on the trail of a media mogul (Jonathan Pryce) who plans to use a GPS encoder to start a war between China and the United Kingdom.
Joining Bond on his mission is Chinese spy Wai Lin, played by actress Michelle Yeoh, who had gained acclaim for her work in martial arts movies with Jackie Chan. Working in Hong Kong, Yeoh had typically performed most of her own stunts, but was not allowed to do so on Tomorrow Never Dies due to insurance restrictions. Meanwhile, the other Bond girl, Teri Hatcher, had to shoot her scenes in the movie very quickly, as she had become pregnant prior to filming.
