The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Monday that Disney will produce a new, hand-drawn feature based on A.A. Milne's beloved Winnie the Pooh characters. This announcement comes only four years after Disney released Pooh's Heffalump Movie, which grossed only $18 million domestically and was almost universally panned by critics.
Despite the 2005 movie's lack of success, Disney consumer products chairman Andy Mooney said the studio will move forward undeterred, since Pooh represents the second-biggest licensed character franchise in the world behind ... you guessed it ... Mickey Mouse.
Disney plans to release the untitled project sometime in the spring of 2011. No decisions were announced regarding actors, directors, or writers. There are also no details about the narrative. Posted 06.02.09 by reelz
