Comic book legend Stan Lee first started working for Marvel Comics in 1939, back when it was still known Timely Comics, eventually co-creating Marvel's most enduring characters, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and the Avengers, to name a few. Still going strong at 90 years old, many might be surprised to know that Lee hasn't worked at Marvel Comics for years, as he is still seen as a figurehead for the comic book company. Lee continues to field questions and comments on Twitter, where he has a huge following, and continues his association with Marvel through his many cameos in Marvel movies.
Lee made his first onscreen cameo in the 1989 TV movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, and would go on to appear in 2000's X-Men, all four Spider-Man, 2003's Daredevil and Hulk, both Fantastic Four movies, 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, both Iron Man movies as well as 2011's Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger and last year's The Avengers (but not, inexplicably, 2003's X2: X-Men United or X-Men: First Class). Lee's entire, chronological cameo history has been compiled into a single video (via Mary Sue), including most of our ten favorites (sorry, Mallrats doesn't count) and excluding Lee's voice over work from Marvel's animated series.

Twentieth Century Fox won't be making a huge splash at this year's Comic-Con, but they are making their presence known with an announcement about two of their Marvel franchises.
According to Deadline, Fox has confirmed that Josh Trank will direct their reboot of Fantastic Four, as was rumored earlier this year. Trank impressed the studio with his "found footage" superhero movie Chronicle, and, while Trank played coy with reporters about the project in January, he will likely make the reboot his next directing project.

Director Josh Trank made his feature debut with the "found footage" superhero movie Chronicle, which, unlike most movies featuring ordinary people who discover they have superpowers, wasn't based on any comic book. While audiences have yet to respond to Chronicle, the movie has caught the attention of Twentieth Century Fox, who reportedly made Trank their "frontrunner" to direct their reboot of Fantastic Four, which the studio has been planning since 2009, even hiring Green Lantern screenwriter Michael Green to write the script that same year.
Fox's interest is news to Trank, who told SuperHeroHype that he knows "as much as you guys know" about the Fantastic Four reboot, and may not be too interested in the job.

Fox's pair of kid-friendly Fantastic Four (FF) adaptations were highly successful in terms of box office numbers, bringing in a combined total of $619 million worldwide, but the movies were shredded by critics and never even came close to winning over die-hard comic book and comic book movie fans (for the laundry list of reasons why, check out this "hater" forum over at SuperHeroHype). Aware that the current franchise had already run its course after only two movies, Fox announced back in August 2009 that it was rebooting FF and that Green Lantern scribe Michael Green had been hired to write the script.
Since that time, however, we've heard nothing but rumors about the FF reboot, from the supposed title of the new movie to the actors who might be playing Mr. Fantastic. Though producer Akiva Goldsman has dropped the project, Fox hasn't given up on the FF reboot just yet — in fact, the studio can't, unless it wants the rights to revert back to Marvel — and is currently looking at directors. According to Variety, the current "frontrunner" for the job is up-and-coming director Josh Trank, whose feature debut, the "found footage" superhero movie Chronicle, opens in less than three weeks.

It's been months since anything new has been heard about Fox's plans to reboot the Fantastic Four franchise with a new movie possibly titled Fantastic Four Reborn that would sport an all-new cast of family-friendly superheroes. While doing press for his latest movie, Sanctum, Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd reflected on his time making Fox's first two Fantastic Four movies and offered some advice to the next actor tapped to play the super-team's patriarch, Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.

Disney made a surprising and calculated move last year by acquiring Marvel Entertainment for a cool 4 billion dollars. Marvel scored huge hits with Iron Man and Iron Man 2. WithThor, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers on the horizon, Disney stepped in on Marvel's wide array of characters and storylines. However, the House of Mouse isn't satisfied that they don't have the movie rights to every Marvel character.

Rumors began circulating last week that True Blood and Priest actor Stephen Moyer was offered the role of Victor Von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom, in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. ComicbookMovie reported the rumor, citing an "inside source at Fox," though according to Moyer, he was unaware of it.
Speaking briefly with MTV, Moyer claimed he knew "nothing about" the rumors, though he did call the rumors "great" and, perhaps ironically, "fantastic."

Now that Fox has its principal actors in place and is preparing to go into production in a little over one week on X-Men: First Class, the studio is apparently turning its attention toward putting together a new cast for its other major Marvel Comics property, the Fantastic Four. Though both Fantastic Four and its sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, turned a profit, both movies were heavily criticized and neither managed to strike a chord with die-hard comic book movie fans. The third movie, tentatively titled Fantastic Four Reborn, will be a complete reboot of the franchise, with all new cast members portraying the famous family of superheroes.
In recent weeks, both Alice Eve—who was recently connected to First Class, but apparently passed on it because of her displeasure with changes to the script—and Amber Heard have been rumored to be up for the role of the matriarch of the team, Susan Storm, aka Invisible Woman, previously played by Jessica Alba. Now, ScreenRant is claiming to have some inside information about the actors on deck to play Sue's husband, Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic. The site claims that Fox is pursuing Oscar-winner Adrien Brody and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to step into the role played by Ioan Gruffudd in the first two movies.

A host of new movie rumors have popped up recently and, while we let the majority of them slide, a few are just too juicy to ignore. The first set of rumors concerns the possible new movie titles for the sequel to Live Free or Die Hard and the planned reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise. The source is Harry Knowles of AICN, a notorious movie blogger with a good track record of getting the dirt on Hollywood's biggest movies, so these carry some weight. The other rumor comes from BleedingCool, the site that recently spread the rumor that Michael Fassbender had been offered a role in Sony's Spider-Man reboot as the main villain, and claims to reveal just which villain Fassbender might be playing.

For someone about to turn 87 (Dec. 28), Stan Lee sure gets around. Not that this is news to anyone who’s been to a Comic-Con in the past decade or watches talk shows with any degree of regularity. From what we can gather, the only thing Lee loves more than adding exclamation points to his comics is appearing on-screen.
While his appearances used to be limited to what he could talk himself into, Lee's been seemingly everywhere this decade — ever since the explosion of Marvel properties being adapted into movies. Well, everywhere for about 15 seconds a movie.
