The Library of Congress has announced its list of selections for inclusion into the National Film Registry. The list is intended to assure that films which are "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant be preserved eternally.
The nominations were chosen by the public on the web site for the Library of Congress and by board members including Martin Scorsese and Leonard Maltin. The final selections are made by Librarian of Congress James Billington.
Highlights from this year's selections included The Terminator, The Asphalt Jungle, The Pawnbroker, The Invisible Man, The Killers and Deliverance.
