Move over Don Knotts! The comedic star of The Hangover, Zach Galifianakis, may be heading out to sea to remake the Disney 1964 family classic The Incredible Mr. Limpet.
The original story follows the exploits of a fish-loving nerd who magically transforms into an animated fish and ends up becoming an unlikely WWII hero by helping spot and defeat enemy warships for the Allies.
The live-action/animation hybrid will be updated with state-of-the-art computer technology to convincingly combine animated characters with live-action photography. Although, we're not as concerned about the CGI quality as much as whether Galifianakis can pull off a "family" comedy. According to The LA Times, he wasn't Disney's first choice, and names like Jim Carrey, Robin Williams and Johnny Depp do sound more of a match for this role. Of course, the remake might get some new life with a fresh and popular comedic talent like Zach, so we hope he gets it. Posted 06.15.10 by reelz
