Pinocchio, the little wooden puppet that dreams of becoming a real boy, will get one more chance to try to make his dream come true, this time in a live-action feature being developed at Warner Bros. According to Variety, Dan Jinks, producer of the Academy Award-winning 2008 political movie Milk, will produce the movie through his Dan Jinks Co. banner. Bryan Fuller, creator of the ABC "dramedy" Pushing Daisies, will pen the script.
Pinocchio first appeared in 1883 in Carlo Collodi's The Adventures of Pinocchio, but the character's continued presence in popular culture owes much to Walt Disney's 1940 Pinocchio animated feature adaptation. Jinks told Daily Variety that Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland inspired him to develop a live-action version of Pinocchio, adding that he had come up with "a fresh approach" to the story.
