Comic book legend Stan Lee first started working for Marvel Comics in 1939, back when it was still known Timely Comics, eventually co-creating Marvel's most enduring characters, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and the Avengers, to name a few. Still going strong at 90 years old, many might be surprised to know that Lee hasn't worked at Marvel Comics for years, as he is still seen as a figurehead for the comic book company. Lee continues to field questions and comments on Twitter, where he has a huge following, and continues his association with Marvel through his many cameos in Marvel movies.
Lee made his first onscreen cameo in the 1989 TV movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, and would go on to appear in 2000's X-Men, all four Spider-Man, 2003's Daredevil and Hulk, both Fantastic Four movies, 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, both Iron Man movies as well as 2011's Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger and last year's The Avengers (but not, inexplicably, 2003's X2: X-Men United or X-Men: First Class). Lee's entire, chronological cameo history has been compiled into a single video (via Mary Sue), including most of our ten favorites (sorry, Mallrats doesn't count) and excluding Lee's voice over work from Marvel's animated series.

There's only a couple months left for Twentieth Century Fox to start shooting their Daredevil reboot, which took a step back when director David Slade dropped out last month due to his commitment to helming the pilot for the upcoming NBC series Hannibal. Fox has until October to put a movie into place or the rights will revert back to Marvel Studios and parent company Disney, but it looks like Fox may have a plan that could keep the blind superhero at the studio.

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan played a string of bit parts in TV shows and movies before hitting the big time as John Coffey, the gentle man-mountain with healing powers at the center of director Frank Darabont's The Green Mile, a role that garnered him an Academy Award-nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. While Duncan has since found it difficult to find roles that require the emotional range of Coffey, he has capitalized on his massive stature by playing bruisers in movies like Planet of the Apes, The Scorpion King and Daredevil.
Duncan also maintains a healthy voice over career, lending his weighty bass tones to numerous commercials, video games, animated TV shows and movies. Duncan's booming voice can next be heard emanating from the mouth of the CGI character Kilowog in Green Lantern. In a recent interview with BlackFilm, Duncan opened up about what it was like working with director Martin Campbell to get the right tone for the "drill sergeant" of the Green Lantern Corps. He also talked about what it would take to get him to reprise the role of the Kingpin in the new Daredevil movie currently in development and revealed his desire to play Panthro in a live-action ThunderCats adaptation.

At the end of last month, director David Slade (30 Days of Night, Twilight Saga: Eclipse) teased that he would have some "official news" about the new Daredevil movie he agreed to direct for 20th Century Fox in March. That news finally has been announced.
THR reports that Fringe writer-producer and Brooklyn's Finest screenwriter Brad Caleb Kane has been hired to write the script for the reboot, which will be based on one of the darker storylines from Marvel's Daredevil comic books series: writer Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s acclaimed 1986 storyline "Daredevil: Born Again." The story arc sees the Kingpin discover Daredevil's true identity, Matt Murdock, and slowly ruins his life by freezing his assets, bombing his house, getting him disbarred from his law practice and sending Daredevil into a complete downward spiral. Slade confirmed the report on his Twitter page.

Last Saturday, director David Slade (Twilight Saga: Eclipse) used his personal twitter account to promise that we can expect some "official news" this week about his next project Sony Pictures' new Daredevil movie. Well, the week is nearly over and we're still awaiting that official news, but Slade may have given us a huge hint about what that news might be by squeezing a photo of a Twilight star between his rants about 3-D — "No I am not a fan of 3d and I need to write an essay as to why" — and his idea for a new body part-related acronym for Twilight fans — "BREASTS" for "Better Respect Edward and Swan Twilight Saga."

Last week, just as 20th Century Fox hired David Slade (30 Days of Night, Twilight Saga: Eclipse) to direct a new Daredevil movie, early rumors began piling up that the movie would be a "continuation of the Daredevil saga", implying that it wouldn't completely ignore the 2003 Daredevil starring Ben Affleck. Other rumors claimed that Slade's Daredevil would be either "a bit Batman Begins" with the villain learning "who Daredevil really is and tries to destroy him" or, more pointedly, be an adaptation of the "Born Again" storyline written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli from the mid-1980s run of the Daredevil comic book series.
Meanwhile, casting rumors also sprang up, with Robert Pattinson, Bradley Cooper, and Garrett Hedlund all mentioned as potential actors for the role of the blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who moonlights as the masked vigilante Daredevil, the "Man Without Fear".
With all of these rumors already swirling, Slade took to twitter to set the record straight.

20th Century Fox hired director David Slade (30 Days of Night, Twilight Saga: Eclipse) to helm a new Daredevil movie only a few days ago and rumors about the production have already begun. Slade won the job by offering Fox a pitch on what he wanted the movie to be — reportedly a sequel or "continuation of the Daredevil saga" that began with 2003's Daredevil — but with no screenwriter hired yet, rumors seem incredibly early for the project, but include story details and casting possibilities.
Moviehole suggests that Slade's pitch to Fox was a "close cousin" of some of the other superhero movies in development, such as Marvel's slate of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Moviehole's source is an unnamed director who was also reportedly up for the job and claims that Slade's Daredevil will be "a bit Batman Begins" with the villain learning "who Daredevil really is and tries to destroy him — but not via the usual methods."

A reboot of 20th Century Fox's 2003 Daredevil has been in the works for years, with screenwriter David Scarpa (The Day the Earth Stood Still) hired to write a draft in February of last year. The Ben Affleck-starring original earned $179 million worldwide, a modest success considering its budget, and spawned a spin-off, 2005's Elektra, which bombed at the box office. Affleck eventually admitted that Daredevil "missed a lot".
Fox is in a precarious position with the few Marvel Comics properties they own the rights to: the studio must continue to develop the franchises or else the rights will revert back to Marvel Studios. When Disney purchased Marvel in 2009, reports claimed that Disney was trying to find a way to wrestle Daredevil, Fantastic Four and the X-Men movies away from Fox, and Spider-Man away from Sony. However, as long as both studios continue to develop movies based on the Marvel characters, the studios will continue to hold the rights.
While Scarpa's Daredevil draft may not reach the screen, a movie based on the character created by Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett in 1964 is on the way.

Disney made a surprising and calculated move last year by acquiring Marvel Entertainment for a cool 4 billion dollars. Marvel scored huge hits with Iron Man and Iron Man 2. WithThor, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers on the horizon, Disney stepped in on Marvel's wide array of characters and storylines. However, the House of Mouse isn't satisfied that they don't have the movie rights to every Marvel character.

Sure, Marvel has Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, and Avengers lined up for release through 2012, but that's not stopping them from planning even more Marvel movies. According to CHUD, Marvel is meeting with screenwriters and directors about some of their less mainstream characters — the sorcerer Doctor Strange, preteen superheroes Power Pack, mutant and pop star Dazzler, hero-for-hire Luke Cage, and many others.
