Looks like the weak box office performance of Evan Almighty is catching up with it. Studios have opted not to release the movie in Japan, where it was originally slated to come out in September.
Although its predecessor Bruce Almighty, did well in Japan, Variety speculates that success is due to Jim Carrey's popularity in the Asian nation. Steve Carell, on the other hand, is not very well known there--neither The 40-Year-Old-Virgin, nor The Office have been on Japanese screens.
Either way, if you're in Japan and desperate to see Evan Almighty, you're out of luck.
