By now we all know that Twilight is going to be the biggest thing to hit theaters, since, well, since I don't know when. So in preparation, I'm taking the plunge and reading my way through book one of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga.
Not being a tweener myself, I didn't have the highest of hopes when embarking on this literary journey, although I will admit it is certainly a book that makes many a woman's heart go pitter-pat. Not only did the woman at the bookstore register gush over it as I was buying it, but I also started receiving messages from random GoodReads users telling me how much I would love it.
Well, while I can't say I 'love it,' per se, I can say that it is definitely better than I expected. Although I will also say I'm half way through and so far virtually nothing has happened. We've barely even realized that Edward is a vampire and the werewolves have only been hinted at. Mostly, it's a lot of sitting in cars, waiting for each other after class, longing looks and not touching.
Wow, now that I think of it, that sounds quite a lot like my own high school experience. Rich Ripley, wherever you are, are you a vampire?
In the meantime, be on the lookout for our Cliff's Notes Guide to Twilight soon. Posted 05.11.08 by reelz

MTV Movies just debuted the new poster for the teen vampire flick Twilight, and like the flick's recently released teaser trailer, it places the focus on stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who play star-crossed lovers Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, respectively. While Pattinson's pose radiates existential angst and longing, Stewart's gaze seems to say, "Hey, check out this hot vampire guy I snagged." (Head over to MTV Movies for the full-size version.) The new teaser trailer for Twilight, the big screen adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's teen vampire romance novel, debuted today on MySpace, offering fans the first glimpse of stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in action. Stewart plays Bella Swan, a lonely high school outcast who falls head over heels for vampire Edward -- the James Dean of bloodsuckers -- played by Pattinson. Sigh...why do chicks always go for the bad boys?
Those who wish to see a big screen version of the new Twilight trailer can find it in theaters this weekend, where it will run before showings of Speed Racer.

Seth Rogen is the newest member to join Kevin Smith's fold. The star of Knocked Up and Superbad has been cast as the lead in Smith's upcoming comedy, Zack & Miri Make a Porno, opposite The 40-Year-Old Virgin costar Elizabeth Banks, as two friends who make a porn to alleviate debt and discover they have feelings for each other.
Rogen's Knocked Up costar Katherine Heigl also has a deal going this week. Heigl has signed to star in The Ugly Truth, a romantic comedy about a morning show producer who is tested by her chauvinistic correspondent's theories on love. Robert Luketic (Legally Blond, Monster-in-Law) will direct.
And finally Kristen Stewart will star in Twilight, a thriller/romance adapted from Stephanie Meyer's novel about a young girl's relationship with a mysterious classmate when she moves to a small town. Catherine Hardwicke (The Nativity Story) will direct.
