Let Me In, opening in theaters today, has the dubious distinction of being a remake of one of the most fan-appreciated vampire movies in recent memory, the elegant and horrific Let the Right One In. But skeptics be damned because reviews for the Matt Reeves-directed movie about a bullied boy who suspects his only friend is a vampire have been stellar. If you are planning on seeing Let Me In, we recommend an evening with its European cousin (now streaming on Netflix). It'll be like chasing your Budweiser with an Akvavit — the name may be unfamiliar on your tongue, but both go down smooth and boast a result that's twice as potent.
