The newest trailer for the upcoming slapstick comedy remake, The Three Stooges, has just been released and it looks like the comedy trio are willing to do almost anything for a chuckle. From slapping to kicking, bonking, and punching, these jokesters are slapstick comedy at its finest. It probably doesn't hurt to throw in an appearance by the lovely Sofia Vergara either.
The Three Stooges may not only be paying homage to the original classic, but also to the modern-day slapstick show, Jackass. The opening warning emulates Jackass' skull and bones image, as well as the "Do Not Try This At Home" message. So if you're a youngster who enjoys watching people get injured, or a fan of the original humor of Curly, Larry and Moe, this may just be the movie for you.

It's been a long road for writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly and their reboot of The Three Stooges. The sibling movie-makers began working on the movie in 2009, and put together a surprising cast that included Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry, and Jim Carrey as Curly. However, financial problems at MGM put The Three Stooges into limbo, and by the time 20th Century Fox took over the production, the cast had moved on to other projects.
After months of searching and testing, the Farrellys finally set their lead cast with Will Sasso (Mad TV, Life As We Know It) as Curly, Sean Hayes (Will and Grace) as Larry, and Chris Diamantopoulos (ReelzChannel's The Kennedys) as Moe. Split into three, 27-minute shorts, The Three Stooges co-stars Jennifer Hudson as Sister Rosemary, Larry David (HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm) as Mother Mengele, Sofia Vergara as love interest Lydia and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi as, well, Snooki.
The first trailer has finally arrived, offering the first look at the movie, which appears to be as loyal to the original Stooges movies as the Farellys had previously promised.

Get ready to hear "Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!" and "Why I oughta..." soon, The Three Stooges are coming back.
The Stooges movie from Bobby and Peter Farrelly is finally coming to theaters in April and the just released teaser one-sheet poster shows the silhouettes of the famous comedy trio. Interestingly, the poster doesn't identify who is actually playing Curly (Will Sasso, Larry (Sean Hayes), and Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos). If you want to see what the actors look like as as Stooges, click here. And we get the movie's first tagline with the poster — Just Say Moe.
The Stooges has come along way. There's been a rotating door of actors set to play the Stooges, including Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, Paul Giamattti, Benicio Del Toro, and Johnny Knoxville.

Unlike some Oscar-winners, actress and singer Jennifer Hudson has been very selective about which roles to take after her Academy Award–winning role in Dreamgirls, with only a handful of movies to her credit since. Looks like Hudson is choosing to have some fun with her latest role.
Deadline reports that Hudson has been cast in writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly's upcoming remake of The Three Stooges as Sister Rosemary. Hudson will join the previously cast Larry David (HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm), who plays Mother Mengele, and Jane Lynch (FOX's Glee), who plays Mother Superior.

Back in 2009, writer/directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly announced a surprising cast for their upcoming The Three Stooges movie that included Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry, and Jim Carrey as Curly. MGM ran into a financial crisis that delayed the movie until last December when 20th Century Fox took over the production, at which point, the Farrellys' cast had already moved on. While the Farrellys have been casting the movie for months, their new cast is almost as surprising as the first.

For a minute, it seemed that Johnny Knoxville was picked to play the part of Moe in writer/directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly's upcoming comedy, The Three Stooges. Unfortunately for Jackass fans, the report that Knoxville was offered the role was premature, and, ultimately, debunked.
According to Deadline, it's Will Sasso (Mad TV, Life As We Know It) has landed the role of Curly in the movie, which will be comprised of three, 27-minute long short movies of slapstick comedy. Sasso is the first actor cast in the movie since the Farrelly Brothers originally cast in 2009 with Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry, and Jim Carrey as Curly, until MGM's financial crisis melted progress on the production.
Once 20th Century Fox took over last December, Peter Farrelly revealed that they were searching for "the best possible people," and Sasso clearly fits that bill. The rest of the cast could be announced later this week.
The report also revealed that Hank Azaria (The Smurfs) has become the frontrunner for the part of Moe, with James Marsden (the X-Men trilogy) potentially up for the part of Larry.
Production is set to start in mid-April.

Whether you were in favor or not, the Farrelly Brothers' The Three Stooges have not cast Jackass star Johnny Knoxville.
Contrary to a report last week that had writer/directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly waiting for Knoxville to "officially accept" the part of Moe, the process never made it that far. According to THR, Knoxville was "interested" in the part, but negotiations with 20th Century Fox "never commenced" and there was never a formal offer.
That leaves the Farrellys still looking for their Stooges, roles that were originally cast in 2009 with Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry, and Jim Carrey as Curly, until MGM's financial crisis slowed production to a halt. Production is set to start in mid-April on three 27-minute short movies, which will comprise the Farrellys' Stooges. Casting decisions will have to made soon to make that start date.
Knoxville is lining up projects at Paramount, the studio behind the Jackass movies. Knoxville could appear in Mustache Riders with the Broken Lizard comedy troupe (Beerfest) and his Jackass co-stars Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn or First Man, writer/director Max Winkler's movie about a man whose wife is running for President that Knoxville is producing.

Writer/directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly made some surprising casting choices for their upcoming The Three Stooges when they originally cast Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry, and Jim Carrey as Curly back in 2009. But as studio MGM started experiencing financial troubles that halted production, the Farrellys slowly began to lose their cast.
Last year, Carrey admitted he wasn't willing to put on the required weight to play Curly, and while Del Toro was still considered the "frontrunner" for Moe as of January, Peter admitted that Penn's involvement in Haiti relief efforts made him too busy to play Larry.
The Farrellys pressed on with casting, revealing last December that their casting standards were to find "the best possible people" that could could embody "Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard." Apparently fitting that bill is Johnny Knoxville.

Writer/directors/siblings Bobby and Peter Farrelly mainly toil in comedies — the most recent being Hall Pass — but despite the brothers' success in comedies like 1998's There's Something About Mary and 1994's Dumb and Dumber, the duo have yet to make a sequel. 2003 prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was made without the Farrelly's involvement, but Bobby told Moviehole that a sequel to Dumb and Dumber is currently being developed.
[Dumb and Dumber] has run a bunch of times on TV in the states, and kids will come up and they’ll be able to quote lines from that — lines that I’ve long forgotten. If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a worthwhile sequel — and that ball is in motion. We’re starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing twenty-years later in life, and hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something worthy of a sequel.
