Rumors that Robert Rodriguez was offered the directing job for Twentieth Century Fox's Deadpool began circulating in June, but Rodriguez confirmedhe was under consideration while talking to MTV at the San Diego Comic-Con.
They sent me a script to read, [but] I've been really swamped with this other stuff. I've not decided whether ... anything I do would be after Spy Kids [4] — that gives some breathing room. So whether or not I would help develop or not is the question right now.

The trailers for producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimród Antal's Predators usually carries with them a shot of Adrien Brody being slowly covered by the triangular-shaped laser sights of the Predators' weaponry. Those that saw the movie last weekend may have noticed that the shot is different in the movie than the trailer (Brody only gets one target on his chest in the actual movie). Rodriguez spoke to MTV and explained the controversy.

The nationwide opening of Predators is today and, though the alien hunter has appeared in one sequel; two team-up movies with the Aliens franchise; and countless comic books and video games, for many fans this movie is the long-awaited sequel to the one true vision of the character, director John McTiernan's 1987 Predator.
Predators ignores Predator 2, which moved the action from the jungles of South America to near-future Los Angeles, a decision that producer Robert Rodriguez said that 20th Century Fox had already made way back in 1995 when they originally contracted him to write the movie. In a recent interview with Collider, Rodriguez and director Nimród Antal discuss the importance of the jungle environment to the movie and the casting of Adrien Brody and Alice Braga as butt-kicking killers stranded on a planet designed by the Predators for hunting humans.

More than five years ago, director Robert Rodriguez shattered the expectations of what a comic book movie could do with a stylized, panel-perfect adaptation of Frank Miller's bloody Sin City graphic novels. The movie was both a financial success and a critical favorite, winning 16 awards. In light of its success, and with several more Sin City stories left to be told, one would think that Rodriguez would be hard at work on Sin City 3, yet we're still waiting for Sin City 2.
Obviously, Sin City's sequel is still on the minds of many because Rodriguez responded to more than one question about it while doing press for his new movie, Predators. Rodriguez also offered an update on his planned adaptation of the Mad Man comic book and teased that there are many more Predators stories to tell.

Director Nimród Antal 's Predators opens in less than a week and 20th Century Fox has been trying to build hype for the movie by steadily releasing new still images, video clips and featurettes. The latest release is a new video clip titled "Shell Count" that shows Royce (played by Adrien Brody) stepping up as the leader of the rag-tag group of dangerous humans who were kidnapped and transported to the Predators' planet to be hunted.

It's been two months since the last character featurette was released for director Nimród Antal's Predators. The five previous clips introduced Adrien Brody as Royce, Alice Braga as Isabelle, Topher Grace as Edwin, Danny Trejo as Cuchillo, and Laurence Fishburne as Noland. The new character profile spotlights Louis Ozawa Changchien's character, Hanzo, described by producer Robert Rodriguez as a man "born a thousand years too late." A "silent warrior," Hanzo worked for Japan's infamous Yakuza criminal organization before being transported to the Predators' "game preserve" planet to serve as their prey.

Director Nimród Antal 's Predators movie draws near and 20th Century Fox is offering up more tantalizing tidbits of new footage. Already this week, two new clips have surfaced, and now a third containing never-before-seen footage has been released.
In this clip, titled "Rude Awakening," Royce (Adrien Brody), Cuchillo ( Danny Trejo), Nicholai (Oleg Taktarov) and Isabelle (Alice Braga) nearly take each other out after they are unceremoniously deposited on the alien hunters' planet/game preserve.

The debut of Predators is less than two weeks away and 20th Century Fox has released two new clips containing footage not seen in any of the trailers or character featurettes. In addition to mirroring the original movie's story of a team of killers fighting an alien menace in a jungle setting, Predators even borrows some imagery and at least one line from Predator, as evidenced by these newly-released clips.

A new Predators TV spot has emerged that offers a sneak peek at a sword fight between Louis Ozawa Changchien and one of the Predators. It's not surprising, since the spot hails from Japan and Changchien's character of Hanzo is a member of the Yakuza, aka the Japanese mafia.
What's more surprising is the French spot. While international actors fill the cast (including Alice Braga and Oleg Taktarov), none of the actors, or characters for that matter, are from France. That's why it's surprising that this spot offers some new footage (and requires a working knowledge of French).
