Fans of the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer may be feeling a little extra optimistic about the coming new year. The reboot of the franchise that was planned without any involvement from creator Joss Whedon has apparently come to a halt.
According to the LA Times (via MTV News), the screenplay submitted earlier in the year by Whit Anderson did not meet expectations and was "rejected completely." It was reportedly Anderson's take on the Buffy story that made producers interested in the project in the first place. If her screenplay was rejected, it could be enough to stall the project entirely. Though the Times does report that a new writer is being sought for the project, it seems doubtful the movie will get made. After the original announcement of the reboot, fans, former cast members and crew members vehemently (and publicly) disapproved of the Whedon-less Buffy. It could be that the project will now seem like a chance that's not worth taking. Posted 12.28.11 by Mandy
