Kristen Stewart has just picked up an award for Best Actress at the Milan International Film Festival. She did not win for her role as a vampire's girlfriend, though. Instead she won for her role as a stripper in the indie movie Welcome to the Rileys. It co-stars James Gandolfini who plays a father who decides to take the young stripper under his wing, and this year's best supporting actress winner Melissa Leo is his wife who has refused to leave their house following the death of their daughter.
Stewart told ReelzChannel in an interview that she became interested in working on the movie when she was just 17, but the production didn't start until close to her 19th birthday. Perhaps it was that intervening time that she was allowed to grow as an actress that made the performance award winning.

MTV has debuted 3 exclusive stills of a bruised and battered Kristen Stewart from upcoming movie Welcome to the Rileys. Stewart plays Mallory, a 16-year-old lap dancer who finds herself befriended by Doug (James Gandolfini), a grieving father mourning the loss of his daughter.

Clearly, Kristen Stewart is working hard not to be typecast. Earlier this year, she played the young, hard-rocking Joan Jett in The Runaways. And now, on the heels of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's release, comes the first official trailer for Welcome to the Rileys, due in theaters this October. Stewart plays the "wayward" Mallory, a 16-year-old working as a stripper/prostitute. She's befriended by Doug Riley (James Gandolfini), a "lost soul" who's grieving his daughter's death and sees her as a surrogate daughter, of sorts.
