Sure, the Wizard of Oz tells us there's no place like home. But as any movie that exists outside a complete fantasy world is quick to remind: When home means dealing with your family, sometimes you'd be a lot happier if you stayed away. Then again, it could be a lot worse. However bad your own family, it's almost certain you'd have a worse time traveling across the country to sip eggnog and open presents with any of these clans — all, admittedly, great fun to watch in a theater.

No surprise, we love the Oscars. But ... well, even we have to admit that the show always goes on too long and you can really only count on one good joke per hour. Enter our annual Oscar Bingo Cards, a sure way to get you through the duller moments. Or to help ignore that blowhard at the party who you know only saw Iron Man 2 and Inception, yet somehow has an opinion on every award.
This year we've put together a set of 10 Cards — one for each of the movies up for Best Picture. (Hint: Check out the FREE SPACE icons.) While we can't guarantee every one of these events will happen, we're pretty confident a game of Blackout Bingo will prove possible with several of the cards in the mix.

Jennifer Lawrence rose to prominence after her performance in the indie Winter's Bone received heavy praise. That movie's still enjoying box office success in its limited release, but after being cast as the blue-skinned shapeshifter Mystique in Fox's upcoming X-Men: First Class, Lawrence is going to scrutinized by a much larger audience. The actress admitted to the Orlando Sentinel that she was not prepared for the attention that the X-Men franchise brings, saying she has "never done a movie where the title alone makes people go a little crazy." more on Lawrence's X-Men education >> Posted 07.23.10 by Ryan
