The dust kicked up by the Summer Movie Season has finally settled and the output of many movie studios has shifted from superheroes and family comedies to Halloween horrors and Oscar-hopeful dramas. In that later mix is director Tony Goldwyn's (The Last Kiss) Conviction. Based on a true story, it stars Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank as Betty Anne Waters, a single mother who devotes her life to earning a law degree so that she can appeal her brother's (Sam Rockwell) murder conviction. The first TV spot, while it does a great job of summing up the dramatic plot, also seems to reveal the movie's ending.
Minnie Driver, Melissa Leo, and Juliette Lewis also star.
