In previous clips and trailers, we've seen "meteors" splashing down off the coast of Santa Monica and gi-normous spaceships rising up from beneath buildings in L.A., but in the latest preview clip from director Jonathan Liebesman's (The Killing Room) upcoming sci-fi movie, Battle: Los Angeles, we get our first look at human-alien combat.
Written by Christopher Bertolini (The General's Daughter), Battle: Los Angeles is inspired by the 1942 "attack" on Los Angeles and centers around a group of Marines who lead the fight against an alien invasion. In this new preview clip, a squad of Marines led by Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) enounter the aliens in their subterranean den beneath the streets of L.A. in a scene eerily similar to the first engagement between Colonial Marines and the xenomorphs in James Cameron's Aliens.

On the night of February 24th, 1942, a large scale anti-aircraft artillery barrage against targets that witnesses say "floated and glided" in the sky occurred. 69 years later the event still remains shrouded in mystery, never fully explained. The "Battle of Los Angeles," as the night has come to be known, has inspired many stories - the most recent of which is the soon-to-be released movie Battle: Los Angeles
While the event was dismissed as a "false alarm" due to "jittery nerves," by the Secretary of the Navy, Frank Knox, the army eventually bowed to public pressure and responded that the craft and battle were definitively real. Multiple reasons have been given including "Japanese planes to German craft launched from secret bases in Mexico to unidentified aircraft to weather balloons to sky lanterns to blimps." However, it is also alleged that the Army had recovered an unidentified aircraft off the coast of California that indicated that the "mystery airplanes are in fact not earthly and according to secret intelligence sources they are in all probability of interplanetary origin."
To coincide with their movie and to acknowledge the anniversary of the Battle of Los Angeles, Sony Pictures has culled real-life source material of military and UFO experts that heightens the speculation that in this case, art may just be imitating life.

A trio of new teaser posters for upcoming movies have been released. Joining the preview clip from director Jonathan Liebesman's new sci-fi movie, Battle: Los Angeles, that recently debuted online is a new teaser poster for the movie that puts into perspective the David-and-Goliath nature of the match-up between the U.S. Marines tasked with defending L.A. and the aliens bent on wiping out humanity and plundering the planet's resources. Written by Christopher Bertolini (The General's Daughter), Battle: Los Angeles is inspired by the 1942 "attack" on Los Angeles that conspiracy theorists and UFOlogists believe involved alien spaceships. Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez headline the cast that also includes Michael Pena, Bridget Moynahan, Lucas Till, and singer-turned-actor Ne-Yo. Battle: Los Angeles opens March 11th.

War has been the center of several trailers for Columbia Pictures' upcoming new movie, Battle: Los Angeles, and the same goes for latest preview clip, which shows Aaron Eckhart lead a group of Marines through the streets of Los Angeles during a ground battle against the invading aliens. While the scene begins innocently, the Marines eventually find themselves ambushed.

Sony Pictures has released a selection of new still images from director Jonathan Liebesman's (The Killing Room) upcoming sci-fi action movie, Battle: Los Angeles, that show a beleaguered U.S. military and a devastated Los Angeles. Written by Christopher Bertolini (The General's Daughter), Battle: Los Angeles follows a team of U.S. Marines on the front lines in L.A. as they attempt to rescue civilians and combat the alien invaders whose goal it is to wipe out all of humankind so that they can pillage our planet for its resources. Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez lead the cast that also includes Michael Pena, Bridget Moynahan, Lucas Till, and Ne-Yo.
