A teaser trailer for a remake of The Mechanic has arrived online. The 1972 original followed a hit man (Charles Bronson) who takes on an apprentice (Jan-Michael Vincent) and both learn about vengeance. The remake, with Jason Statham in the Bronson role and Ben Foster in the Vincent role, looks like it will be staying faithful to the original story, yet currently has no distributor. With the bankable Statham in the lead, is there any reason for this?
Could it be director Simon West, whose Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider are mentioned in the trailer as if they're selling points? Might as well mention When a Stranger Calls too! From the trailer below, the movie looks like the usual high-octane action Statham has delivered in the past, so see for yourself if the "West-factor" is actually a factor whatsoever.
