For those that have been keeping up with the Hatchet movies, the end of 2010 sequel Hatchet II seemed to reveal that Marybeth (Danielle Harris) had finally brought an end to the deformed, swamp-dwelling murderer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) through various uses of destruction. However, as with all good horror franchises, it's hard to keep a good killer down, and so it looks like Crowley has somehow returned and Marybeth still has her worked cut out for her in Hatchet III.

Director Adam Green's (Frozen) sequel Hatchet II enjoyed a brief run in AMC theaters until it was pulled from theaters on its opening weekend of limited release. While Green was never given a reason for the canceled run, he blamed the movie's unrated status and his own public battle against the MPAA Ratings Board.
Months later, Hatchet II is getting a second chance on Video-on-Demand, Bloody-Disgusting reports. The sequel, hailed as "one of the best slasher films ever," will be available via VOD on Comcast and Time Warner systems starting December 1. Green has tweeted that the movie won't be released on DVD and Blu-Ray until "early next year."

Director Adam Green (Frozen) admitted he was "bewildered and confused" as to why his latest movie, the unrated sequel Hatchet II, was pulled from the AMC movie theater chain almost as soon as it was released last weekend. While AMC's official statement claimed the decision was "based on performance," Green disagreed, citing the movie's cult status and lack of advertising as reason to ignore the financial success of a movie opening on only 68 screens. While many media outlets discussed the movie's unrated status and Green's public disappointment with the MPAA ratings board, Green sent a statement to Moviefone explaining his position.

Director Adam Green (Frozen) fulfilled horror fans' dreams by reinvigorating the slasher genre with his gory, directorial debut Hatchet. The sequel, Hatcher II was released into theaters over the weekend through the AMC theater chain. Despite the fact that Hatchet II had no rating, the horror sequel saw a limited release (68 screens total) that went down to zero almost immediately. "We woke up this morning and the movie was gone," Green told EW. "I’m bewildered and confused."
