New photos and a trailer were recently released for the upcoming action movie Killer Elite, which sees Jason Statham in yet another special ops agent character, this time hunting down an evil Clive Owen. Before Killer Elite bows in September, however, audiences will be treated to another Statham action thriller, Blitz.
Set in Statham's native Britain, Blitz casts the action star as Detective Sergeant Tom Brant, who is on the hunt for a serial killer (The Wire's Aidan Gillen) who targets other police officers. The movie was adapted from the novel by Irish pulp novelist Ken Bruen, who has a series of novels featuring the Brant character. Blitz opened in the UK in May, with IGN claiming that the movie "could be start of a beautiful franchise" that casts Statham as "a much more complex character than we're used to seeing." While not quite as glowing, The Guardian called it "oddly entertaining."
The latest trailer for Blitz, and an intenational trailer that debuted last October, are all we Yanks have to go on that the UK reviews are correct.

Adapted by Nathan Parker (Moon) from the novel by Ken Bruen, the Elliott Lester-directed movie finally has a trailer, which offers a first look at the movie.

With one movie currently in theaters, two more completed and awaiting release, and three others in post-production, Jason Statham is easily one of the most in-demand actors working today.
In his latest movie, Blitz, Statham steps away from the shirtless action he has become famous for to play a hard-nosed detective on the hunt for a serial killer in a thriller based on the novel of the same name by Irish crime writer Ken Bruen. Directed by Elliott Lester (Love is the Drug), Blitz is "in the can" and awaiting a release date. The first still image from the movie has been released and, unfortunately, it's a pretty mundane walking-and-talking shot of Statham and co-star Paddy Considine.

The South East London police squad are down and out: Detective Sergeant Brant (Jason Statham) is in hot water for assaulting a police shrink, Chief Inspector Roberts’ wife has died in a horrific car accident, and WPC Falls is still figuring out how to navigate her job as a black female investigator in the notorious unit. When a serial killer takes his show on the road, things get worse for all three. Nicknamed 'The Blitz' by the rabid London media, the killer is aiming for tabloid immortality by killing cops in different beats around the city.
