Playing a Bostonian isn't much of a stretch for Beantown native Mark Wahlberg. But starring opposite a walking, talking teddy bear? That would be something new. According to Deadline, Wahlberg is in negotiations to star in Ted, an R-rated comedy about a Boston man who made a wish as a child that his teddy bear would come to life and now finds that his furry friend's bad habits are cramping his adult lifestyle.
The $65 million budgeted movie was developed by Media Rights Capital (MRC) and sold to Universal Pictures in April. The script was written by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. MacFarlane will also provide the voice of Ted the bear, which will be a CG character, as well as direct and co-produce with Scott Stuber of Universal shingle Stuber Pictures, John Jacobs, and MRC.
