Has the 'smoking gun' that killed JFK been found?
Award-winning mini-series The Kennedys, brought to you by Reelz, impressed audiences with its beautiful and emotional retelling of public and private events within the Kennedy family, including the assassination of JFK. Now, this November, Reelz will bring viewers deeper into John F. Kennedy's controversial death in the special investigative documentary JFK: The Smoking Gun.
Veteran Police Detective Colin McLaren spent four years on a forensic cold case investigation which brought to light new evidence. By using modern technology, having access to all evidence and gathering eye-witness testimony, McLaren was able to solve a crime every bit as shocking and incredible today as it was when it happened 50 years ago. Get taken deep into the events of the investigation with dramatic re-creations bringing viewers everywhere from that tragic day in Dallas, to Parkland Hospital, to Bethesda Naval Hospital where the autopsy was conducted with controversial results.
The documentary special is produced by Muse Entertainment (The Kennedys) and Cordell/Jigsaw/Zapruder (Go Back Where You Came From). It is written by Steve Lucas (Exhibit A: Secrets of Forensic Science), and directed by Malcolm McDonald (On the Trail of Genghis Khan).

The entire Emmy-winning mini-series, The Kennedys is airing twice on Thanksgiving, and there is an opportunity to score a new Kennedys sticker on GetGlue. After premiering on Reelz, the epic mini-series The Kennedys went on to win a total of four Emmys, three Gemini Awards, a Directors Guild of America Award, and five Directors Guild of Canada Awards. Now the epic eight-part series, which relives the public and private joys and tragedies of the most influential family in US history, is airing this Thanksgiving.
On Thursday, November 22nd, the entire series will air twice on Reelz. Starting at 8a ET/5a PT, all eight episodes will air back-to-back, with a second showing to start at 8p ET/5p PT. Last year, Reelz premiered the Emmy-winning mini-series The Kennedys, and now Reelz has parentered with Muse Entertainment to develop a new mini-series based on the bestselling book After Camelot, written by J. Randy Taraborelli.
After Camelot – A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present is based on J. Randy Taraborrelli’s extensive research, including hundreds of exclusive interviews and captures the wealth, glamour and fortitude for which the Kennedys are so well known. Like the book takes its readers, the mini-series will take its viewers on an epic journey of the ongoing saga of the nation’s most famous – and controversial – family.
For anyone who wants to watch The Kennedys again, Reelz will air the entire series twice on Thanksgiving.

The Directors Guild of Canada held their awards ceremony on Saturday night, and The Kennedys and its director Jon Cassar both came out big winners. The show won for Best Television Movie/ Mini-Series, while Cassar took home the award for Best Direction of a Television Movie/ Mini-Series. In addition, the drama based on the legendary American family also won in the categories of Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, and Best Picture Editing for a Television Movie/ Mini-series.
Earlier this year, Cassar won the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television from the Directors Guild of America as well. Other awards that have been claimed by The Kennedys include four Emmy awards and three Gemini Awards.

The opening of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., is just the beginning of what is sure to be a contentious and interesting presidential race. Republican nominee Mitt Romney's wife Ann was one of the speakers the first night of the convention, a public-speaking role that was new to the potential First Lady. The accolades keep coming for The Kennedys. The eight-part movie event was announced as a finalist in the 2012 New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards for best Mini-Series.
The event honors programming from over 40 countries. The Kennedys, currently a finalist, now proceeds to a second round of judging to determine the Grand Trophy Award recipients, as well as Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists. Trophies will be presented at the 2012 Television & Film Awards Ceremony on April 17th at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Tonight marked the second win in three days for ReelzChannel's The Kennedys. On Thursday, January 26, the eight-part miniseries won Best Historical Drama Production at the 2012 History Makers Awards.
Jon Cassar, who directed all eight episodes of The Kennedys, won Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Mini-Series at the 64th annual Directors Guild of America Awards. This was Cassar's third DGA Award nomination and his second win — the first was in 2006, when he won Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series for the "7:00 AM-8:00 AM" episode of 24.
Tomorrow night Greg Kinnear, who played John F. Kennedy, is up for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries. The Kennedys, which reached 7.7 million viewers during its premiere week, has previously won several other accolades — four Emmy Awards (including Barry Pepper for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries) and three Gemini Awards.

Add another award to The Kennedys' growing list. Tonight the eight-part miniseries won Best Historical Drama Production at the 2012 History Makers Awards. The Kennedys, which aired on ReelzChannel, beat out Nazi Hunters (Canada/Brazil) and Mission to Murder Hitler (Germany) for the award, which recognizes the very best in history, current affairs, and non-fictional programming from around the world and across digital and TV platforms. ReelzChannel CEO Stan E. Hubbard had this to say about the win.
This award is a tremendous honor and validation for the cast, crew, and creators who worked so hard and so carefully to get the history right. Each and every one of them went to work every day with the weight of history on their shoulders and still had to endure two years of ridicule and criticism. In the end, this award from History Makers International proves that they got it right.

The Kennedys has seen its fair share of controversy... and awards, including a Best Historical Drama Production nomination for the upcoming History Makers Awards. Now, nearly a year from the premiere of the 8-part miniseries on ReelzChannel, the controversy continues.
