"Gratitude is a quality similar to electricity: it must be produced and discharged and used up in order to exist at all." — William Faulkner
Thanksgiving Day is a special holiday. It's that one day of the year where we all get to skip work to gather with our friends and family members and simply reflect on the things in our lives that we have to be thankful for...and then watch NFL football and consume massive quantities of "harvest" food. At ReelzChannel, we're all about movies, so Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete if we didn't take the time to be thankful for all of the great new movies of the year. If you're a movie person, then we consider you part of our extended family. So, before you have that third helping of stuffing and pass out on the couch from all of the tryptophan in the turkey, take a moment to share with us the movies that have excited, thrilled, scared, and moved you in 2012.

A crippled hero rises to save his city one last time. A team of scientists seeking God in the depths of space instead discover pure evil. A fairy tale princess becomes a warrior and saves herself. A foul-mouthed teddy bear plays the white trash name game. This summer's selection of movie releases were filled with triumphant, terrifying, inspiring and hilarious moments.
The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises obliterated the popular myth that the superhero action genre had run its course. Ted proved that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is even funnier when he doesn't have to censor himself. Moonrise Kindom cemented Wes Anderson as the indie king of whimsical, witty comedies with a heart. Each of these movies were fantastic in their own ways, but how do they stack up against each other? Help us rate the Top 10 Best Movies of the 2012 summer movie season.

The Simpsons have had an extremely long run of success in a variety of different formats. From animated shorts in a sketch comedy show, followed by a prime time network sitcom, and a feature length movie, to music recording, video games, and amusement park rides, the Simpson family has infiltrated all kinds of media. Now Maggie Simpson is branching out to star in an animated 3D short that will be attached to Ice Age: Continental Drift, and a trailer for the short was released this week.
Simpsons: The Longest Daycare is only four and a half minutes long, so it's no surprise that the trailer is promised to be the shortest of the summer. The short follows Maggie as she spends a day at the Ayn Rand School for Tots, and takes on her arch nemesis, the unibrowed Gerald Samson. The Artist may be the first black-and-white (mostly) silent movie to be widely released in the US in decades, but a recently released featurette for Ice Age: Continental Drift points out that many of us are very familiar with some common elements of silent movies.
In "The Scratist," we see the familiar, unlucky hero from the Ice Age franchise dealing with both classic and new variations on his usual, acorn-based frustrations. It turns out that many cartoons have been relying on dialogue-free physical comedy, dramatic pantomimes of love and loss, and adorable fuzzy animals to tell stories for years. Maybe the Oscar-nominated pic is more accessible to the typical movie-going audience member than would be expected. Watch the Ice Age Featurette >> Posted 02.22.12 by Mandy
