More of the TV spots for upcoming movies that aired during Sunday's Super Bowl have made their debut online, including the spots for Safe House and Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace 3D.
Written by newcomer David Guggenheim and directed by Swedish filmmaker Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash), Safe House is an action-thriller set in Cape Town, South Africa, that stars Ryan Reynolds as a young CIA agent tasked with transporting a renegade CIA agent (Denzel Washington) to a new location after the safe house where he was being kept is attacked by mercenaries. Vera Farmiga, Brendan Gleeson, Ruben Blades, Sam Shepard and Tim McGraw also star.

Tim Burton's latest project, Big Eyes, has big news. Despite being an independent film, Burton and co-writer/directors Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski just snagged A-listers Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds to star as the 1960's famous artistic couple, Margaret and Walter Keane.
Big Eyes is based on the true story of kitsch art icon, Margaret Keane (Witherspoon), who is best known for her paintings of grief-stricken, wide-eyed children. However, after their divorce, the Keanes became embroiled in a bitter dispute over the origins and authenticity of their paintings — her ex-husband Walter (Reynolds) claimed for years that the paintings were his but was challenged by Margaret in court, resulting in a well-documented "paint off."

2011 hasn't been a good year for Ryan Reynolds. With expectations set very high, Green Lantern turned out to be one of the summer's biggest comic book movie bombs, while August's The Change-Up fared even worse, finally settling the question: "Will audiences watch a body swap comedy if it's Rated R?" Turns out the answer is no.
Reynolds is looking to rebound in 2012, first with Safe House, a thriller that co-stars Denzel Washington, who, even when one of his movies gets mixed reviews (The Book of Eli, for instance), still do pretty well at the box office (R.I.P.D., which pairs Reynolds with Jeff Bridges, will follow later in June). In Safe House Reynolds plays a rookie CIA operative who is forced to protect Washington, a renegade former CIA agent who traded national secrets. A new poster and first trailer have finally arrived for the movie, months before it opens early next year.

Just when it seemed like Paramount's World War Z might be in financial trouble, the adaptation of Max Brooks' best-selling novel hired director of photography Robert Richardson (Shutter Island, Inglourious Basterds) and seemed poised for a June production start. Now, Brad Pitt has some company in the cast.
THR reports that Mireille Enos, star of AMC's critically acclaimed drama The Killing, has joined the cast of World War Z and will play the wife of Pitt, a U.N. worker, and the mother to two girls.
World War Z was adapted by Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom) and J. Michael Straczynski (Changeling), while Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) is directing the movie, which starts shooting in London this June.

A set of "spy pics" featuring Ryan Reynolds cruising around on a motorcycle on the set of his new movie, Safe House, have surfaced online. The Universal Pictures action-thriller is currently being filmed in South Africa, with Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash) at the helm. Written by David Guggenheim, Safe House follows a young CIA agent (Reynolds) who must transport a dangerous criminal (Denzel Washington) to a secure location after the safe house where he was being kept was destroyed by a group of villains. Brendan Gleeson, Ruben Blades and Tim McGraw also star.

Ryan Reynolds' busy schedule just got busier. Last week, Reynolds was considered the top contender for a role in the Universal movie Safe House, opposite Denzel Washington. Deadline reports that Universal is negotiating with the actor to join the project.
Safe House, which will follow Reynolds as a CIA agent who survives an attack on a safe house, and must transport a criminal (Washington) to safety, is one of several projects Reynolds plans to shoot over the next year. Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash) is directing the movie from a script by newcomer David Guggenheim. The script was the subject of a bidding war amongst studios in February.
