If you don't like this one, RPattz fans, Breaking Dawn - Part 2 opens just a couple of months later.
There are at least dozens of different things we don't understand about the upcoming David Cronenberg pic, but there is one thing about it that we know for certain: plenty of fans that came to love Robert Pattinson from Twilight and Harry Potter are going to find themselves in a very different sort of movie when they go to see Cosmopolis.
A new trailer has just been released for the upcoming flick, which was one of the official selections at Cannes this year, and it is just as confusing as the first trailer released a few months ago. At one point, Jay Baruchel's character, Shiner, asks "do you ever get the feeling you don't know what's going on?" After watching this, the only honest answer to that question is "Yes."

From the beginning, director David Cronenberg's adaptation of Cosmopolis has intrigued due to his casting of Robert Pattinson as Eric Packer, the young multimillionaire whose limousine ride to get a haircut turns into a 24-hour odyssey. Cronenberg, who has gone from being seen as a horror movie director to an auteur with movies like 2005's A History of Violence and last year's A Dangerous Method, typically likes to work with the same actors (namely, Viggo Mortensen), and usually doesn't cast actors with massive tween appeal.
For Pattinson, the casting seemed like an image-shattering move to distance himself further from the Twilight franchise than perhaps last year's Water for Elephants did. Last month's teaser trailer depicted a few moments of Pattinson without his shirt, which seemed directly targeted to the actor's Twilight fans, but the full-length trailer is pure Cronenberg: set in a graphically violent world predominantly obsessed with sex and power.

Seeing a shirtless Taylor Lautner has become a "fan must include" in any Twilight trailer. Team Jacob seems to have started a trend. First, there was the tease of a shirtless Kristen Stewart in the recently released first trailer for On the Road. Now we have a shirtless Robert Pattinson in the teaser trailer for Cosmopolis.
But the clip comes with a warning for Team Edward: There's much graphic violence to be seen along with Pattinson's naked torso — a good warning of what's in store for David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's story of Eric Packer, a young multimillionaire whose limo ride to get a haircut becomes a 24-hour odyssey around Manhattan that includes a rap star's funeral, presidential-visit traffic jams, terrorist attacks, and stalkings.

In Cosmopolis, Robert Pattinson's other upcoming movie, the Twilight Saga star goes from vampy teenager to married multimillionare overnight. And based on the first movie stills, it seems to be a good fit. Will this be the role that lets RPatz break out from his teen heartthrob image?
Adapted from the Don DeLillo novel, Cosmopolis takes us along on a suspenseful day in the life of Eric Packer (Pattinson), a young and wealthy businessman. Check out more stills from the movie via Cosmopolis Film. Set to hit theaters in 2012, Cosmopolis also co-stars Sarah Gadon, Jay Baruchel, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti. It's being directed by David Cronenberg, who also wrote the screenplay.

Now that Robert Pattinson has finished work on Breaking Dawn, the two-part, final installment of The Twilight Saga, he is moving on to director David Cronenberg's adaptation of Cosmopolis.
Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, Cosmopolis stars Pattinson as a young multimillionaire named Eric Packer, whose limo ride to get a haircut becomes a 24-hour odyssey around Manhattan that includes a rap star's funeral, presidential-visit traffic jams, terrorist attacks, stalkings, and frequent run-ins with his wife, played by Sarah Gadon (Dream House).
Cronenberg's daughter, photographer Cait Cronenberg used her photo of Cronenberg and Gadon in the movie, coincidentally in the back of a vehicle. Her photo arrived just days before set photos were released online, again showing Pattinson and Gadon meeting up, this time in a cafe.
Cosmopolis is currently shooting in Toronto, is set to open sometime in 2012. Samantha Morton (Sweet and Lowdown, The Messenger) and Juliette Binoche co-star.

Robert Pattinson is getting some company in Cosmopolis.
THR reports that Samantha Morton (Sweet and Lowdown, The Messenger) and Sarah Gadon (the upcoming Dream House) have joined the cast of the thriller, which director David Cronenberg adapted from the Don DeLillo novel of the same name.
Cosmopolis stars Pattinson as a young billionaire whose limousine ride around Manhattan becomes a Ulysses-esque journey that experiences a rap star's funeral, Presidential-visit traffic jams, terrorist attacks, stalkings, and frequent run-ins with his wife, played by Gadon. Pattinson recently admitted to Empire that he was "just astonished" that he had been cast in the movie.

Robert Pattinson is definitely looking to break from his Twilight image once the franchise ends with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 in November of 2012. RPatz has already shot the Depression-era drama Water for Elephants and now has lined up another image-shattering turn with director David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel Cosmopolis.
