Thanksgiving Day is a special holiday. It's that one day of the year where we all get to skip work to gather with our friends and family members and simply reflect on the things in our lives that we have to be thankful for...and then watch NFL football and consume massive quantities of "harvest" food. At ReelzChannel, we're all about movies, so Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete if we didn't take the time to be thankful for all of the great new movies of the year. If you're a movie person, then we consider you part of our extended family. So, before you have that third helping of stuffing and pass out on the couch from all of the tryptophan in the turkey, take a moment to share with us the movies that have excited, thrilled, scared, and moved you in 2012.

We laughed (at how bad the movie was), we cried (because we didn't see a different movie), we kissed eight bucks (or ten or twelve or sixteen, depending upon the format) good-bye!
Stale jokes, missing plots, phone-in performances...too often this summer movie season, we found ourselves scratching our heads in wonder at how actors and directors we have come to respect could have strayed so far off course. We probably should have gone back to the box office and demanded a refund for some of the stinkers we endured this summer. With all of the competition at the box office and in the home video marketplace, it's all too easy for even the very best of movies to fall by the wayside. That's why we at ReelzChannel always try to do our best to encourge you to see movies that we're pretty sure you're going to enjoy, if you simply take the time to look for them. One such movie is Bernie, which recently made resident movie expert Richard Roeper's list of the "five best films that almost nobody saw" this year. With Bernie now available on home video, we feel compelled to once again suggest you take another look at the Richard Linklater tragicomedy that features Jack Black giving what Roeper describes is "one of the best performances of his career."
Another new home video release featuring one of the "best comedic character actors" working today is The Dictator, the fourth feature film starring fearless comedian and social commentator Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat). Described by Roeper as a "politically incorrect version" of Coming to America, the movie centers on the antics of an antisemitic, anti-Western dictator from a fictional Middle Eastern country and contains "plenty of tasteless gags" in keeping with Cohen's previous movies. And, if you're not in the mood for comedy, A Separation, the winner of the 2012 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film — the first Iranian movie to win the award — is also out on home video this week. The domestic drama focuses on an Iranian couple who separate and pulls back the curtain on the traditions and customs of modern Iran in a movie Roeper classifies as both "brilliant" and "heart-breaking."

Sacha Baron Cohen nearly became the victim of his own antics today in Cannes. The actor almost fell off a camel during a publicity stunt to promote his movie, The Dictator, while at the Cannes Film Festival. The actor had planned to ride a camel through the city's famous Croisette promenade, but nearly tumbled backward when he tried to mount the animal. Luckily, he was caught and continued with his camel ride through Cannes.

Nick Stahl, best known for playing John Connor in Terminator 3, has been reported missing, says TMZ. On Monday, the actor's wife, Rose Stahl, filed a missing person's report with the L.A.P.D. saying she had last seen him May 9th. The actor has been separated from his wife since January, and in February she filed court papers expressing that she was concerned that Nick was using drugs and that she wanted visitations with his daughter to be supervised. His wife is now reportedly concerned that drug use has something to do with the actor's disappearance.

Singer/dancer/actress Jennifer Lopez was just named the number 1 celebrity on Forbes' list of 100 Most Powerful Celebrities. She was followed by Oprah Winfrey in the number two spot, with Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga rounding out the top 5.

In other J.Lo news, she was awfully coy about whether she would return to American Idol next season in a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres. Lopez said, "I really do enjoy it" but continued that she also misses "doing other things. It really does lock you down." Sounds like someone is in contract negotiations. Also, it's interesting to note that in 2009, before Lopez was an idol judge, she didn't even make the Forbes 100 list. Just sayin'.

In yet more Idol-related news, Ryan Seacrest just spent around $49 million for DeGeneres' Beverly Hills estate. The Idol host's new digs include a 9,200-square-foot main house, as well as 3 guest houses on 2.87 acres.

In next month's The Dictator, Supreme Leader Shabazz Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen) pretty much does as he pleases, including bedding Megan Fox, riding an elephant in the streets of NYC, and winning the 100M race at his country's Wadiyan Games (with just a little help from his handgun). But why should only Aladeen have all the fun?
The Dictator: Wadiyan Games app lets iPhone users step into the the shoes of General Aladeen and compete in his four favorite events — running, swimming, fencing, and boxing with some slight advantages (like having a machine gun to shoot your opponents). And after coming in first in all four events, you can take a photo of yourself along side Aladeen and post the photo on Facebook and Twitter.

Whether he's shooting his competitors during a relay race or spilling ashes on Ryan Seacrest before the Oscars, there's been plenty to enjoy about Sacha Baron Cohen's portrayal of Supreme Leader Shabazz Aladeen. As for a trailer, though, the fictional dictator of the fictional Middle Eastern country of Wadiya hasn't been seen since Paramount released a Super Bowl ad in February... Until now.
The studio just released a feature-length trailer for The Dictator that's perhaps more revealing than audiences would like. So far, The Dictator's promotional footage has managed to do a good job of introducing Baron Cohen as Aladeen while balancing a ridiculous, yet still dark, tone. The new trailer, though, reveals a plot twist that — while it explains what Anna Faris is doing in the movie — gives away plot details that perhaps should have been saved for the theater.

After the weeks of party planning, debating picks for the Oscar pools, and filling out Oscar Bingo cards, the winners have been decided, the plastic cups and streamers are being cleaned up, and the Academy Awards are officially over. After an evening that saw two movies (Hugo and The Artist) collect almost every award available, we're sure there are many out there experiencing a little "Oscar hangover" today. So, while the afternoon coffee is being brewed, we'll share a few moments to help ease that ringing bell that was a night of Oscar celebration.
First, before everyone moves on to predicting the movie that will win the gold next year, what about the movies and actors that didn't get nominated this year? JoBlo has compiled a video tribute to several deserving nominees in their "Snubbed 2012: An Oscar Tribute," including performances from actors Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender (amongst others), and everything associated with the action-thriller Drive.

Update:Apparently, being a dictator means you get your way. According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Sacha Baron Cohen is invited to attend the Oscars this year dressed as Admiral Gen. Shabazz Aladeen. "We're thrilled to have him and he'll be on the red carpet dressed as The Dictator," said Oscar producer Brian Grazer.
If the Academy thought Sacha Baron Cohen wouldn't make a spectacle out of him not being allowed to attend the Oscars in character, they obviously haven't seen Borat or Bruno.
After being told he couldn't attend the Oscars dressed as Admiral Gen. Shabazz Aladeen, the character from his upcoming The Dictator, Cohen released a video from Aladadeen giving the Academy an ultimatum.
I am outraged at being banned from the Oscars by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Zionists (Sciences). While I applaud the Academy for taking away my right to free speech, I warn you that if you do not lift your sanction and give me my tickets back by 12 p.m. on Sunday, you will face unforeseen and unimaginable consequences.

If Deadline's breaking news is correct, this year's Oscars is sure to have one less entertaining character — or is that two? — in attendance... All apparently because they didn't approve of a Red Carpet fashion choice.
The site reports that Academy of Motion Picture Arts has pulled actor Sacha Baron Cohen's tickets from Sunday's awards ceremony. The move means that the star, who's not only an Academy member and one of the stars of Best Picture nominee Hugo, isn't even allowed on the Red Carpet outside. The ban is in reaction to word that Baron Cohen planned to strut the carpet in his full The Dictator costume.
With the evening already promising to be a bit more stuffy, we'd like to point you to our 2012 Oscar BINGO cards.

Madonna is still uncharacteristically silent over M.I.A. upstaging her performance during the Super Bowl halftime show but the Queen of Pop has announced dates for her 2012-13 world tour, which starts in Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 29, hits North America in August, and ends in Australia in early 2013.

As for M.I.A., there were reports she would personally have to pay any FCC fines for her middle finger, but The Hollywood Reporter says the agency is unlikely to act against NBC. CBS was fined $550,000 for Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction in 2004.

TiVo reports the halftime show was more popular than the game itself and Doritos' "Man's Best Friend" spot was the top commercial. Movie ads fared poorly in TiVo's ranking, with Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator coming in at #24, followed by The Avengers (43), Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (48), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (53), Battleship (61), Act of Valor (66), Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (68), John Carter (75), and Safe House (100).

In non Super Bowl-related news, fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld says Adele is "too fat," and Beyonce made her first post-baby appearance at a Jay-Z concert in a red Alice Temperly dress, four-inch Christian Louboutin heels, a gold Alexander McQueen clutch, and what look to be 5"-diameter hoop earrings.
