We laughed (at how bad the movie was), we cried (because we didn't see a different movie), we kissed eight bucks (or ten or twelve or sixteen, depending upon the format) good-bye!
Stale jokes, missing plots, phone-in performances...too often this summer movie season, we found ourselves scratching our heads in wonder at how actors and directors we have come to respect could have strayed so far off course. We probably should have gone back to the box office and demanded a refund for some of the stinkers we endured this summer. 2012 is already more than halfway done and while there's been plenty of highlights at the cinema so far, there has also been quite a few lowlights as well. While there's still plenty of 2012 left before we see if the Mayans were correct or not, ReelzChannel movie expert Richard Roeper has picked out some of the worst movies that have been released so far this year, starting with the worst comedy (worse than A Thousand Words, apparently) before ending with the worst movie of 2012 so far (worse than even One For the Money).
While we don't want to play spoiler, would it be a surprise that Adam Sandler's name is somehow included in the list? Considering Sandler set a record by "winning" both the Worst Actor and Worst Actress at last year's Golden Raspberry Awards, we're don't think it comes as a shock. What is surprising is the amount of Oscar–winning actors appearing in movies included in Roeper's list, including Robert De Niro, Reese Witherspoon, and even Academy Award nominees like Queen Latifah and Sigourney Weaver. Guess nobody's perfect!

Adam Sandler didn't have a terrific 2011. Both Just Go With It and Jack and Jill were bashed by critics and have earned Sandler a record-setting 11 Razzie nominations.
Luckily, 2012 is a new year, and this summer's That's My Boy (formerly Donny's Boy and I Hate You Dad) could spell redemption from Sandler. The movie follows Sandler as a hard-partying Donny, who runs into money problems and decides to turn to the son he fathered in high school (Andy Samberg) for help. The only problem is, he has hasn't seen his son in years and wasn't exactly a very good father. To promote the comedy, Sony has released a red band trailer for the movie showing Sandler getting in trouble with Samberg's fiancee (Leighton Meester) once his irresponsible ways start to have an influence on his son.

Some people use Labor Day to mark the end of summer. In our case, it's when the last of the blockbuster movies have rolled out... and we're left looking ahead to next year's big releases.
What's on deck for Summer 2012? Well, not surprisingly, more sequels, remakes, and lots and lots of 3-D. The Avengers kicks things off May 4, and the season climaxes on July 20 with the release ofThe Dark Knight Rises.
