Don't you hate it when you're a piano prodigy and you want to check your mother into rehab but instead get caught up helping her drug dealer, all before you audition for a prestigious music program? That everyday occurrence is the story behind Why Stop Now?, the upcoming dramedy from newcomer Phil Dorling and Ron Nyswaner (screenwriter Philadelphia), who based the movie on their 2008 short Predisposed. The movie debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year — back when it was still titled Predisposed — after which IFC Films picked up the distribution rights.
Why Stop Now? certainly boasts an impressive cast. Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) plays Eli, the aforementioned piano prodigy, while Academy Award–winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter) plays his mother and Emmy nominee Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) plays Sprinkles, the drug dealer who puts Eli to work interpreting Spanish for him during a business transaction in the movie's first trailer. watch the trailer >> Posted 07.06.12 by Ryan
