Everyone has their favorite holiday, whether it's Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any holiday where one gets the day off from work. While both kids and adults alike look forward to Halloween, there are some among us that really really love Halloween. You know the house. A front yard filled with gravestones where ghouls and zombies leap out from the shadows and make little kids (and adults) scream in terror. Maybe it's even the house that parents with little kids actively avoid. When a hobby goes from mild fun to an extreme obsession that goes way over the top is the subject of the documentary The American Scream.
Director Michael Stephenson is no stranger to documenting people's strange passions. His last movie, 2009's Best Worst Movie, looked at the cult following being the 1992 sequel Troll 2, a movie in which Stephenson starred in as a child actor. The American Scream follows three home haunters from Fairhaven, Massachusetts, who go all out decorating their homes every Halloween. In a recent interview with The Playlist, Stephenson admitted that he was "afraid to make another documentary," particularly one where he was personally connected, but had a personal connection to the obsession with Halloween. watch the trailer >> Posted 10.31.12 by Ryan
