The late Swedish author Stieg Larsson died before the first novel of his Millennium trilogy of thrillers, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, was published. The series took off worldwide, and has already been adapted into movies in Larsson's native Sweden, the last of which, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest will open in limited release in the U.S. on October 29. Not to be outdone by the Swedish, Hollywood has elected director David Fincher to create the American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which is currently shooting in Stockholm, Sweden. The movie concerns a journalist (Daniel Craig) and a computer hacker (Rooney Mara) who team up to solve the 40-year-old disappearance of a woman.
The Daily Mail has released set photos from the production, which show Craig shooting one of the opening scenes of the novel on the steps of a Swedish courthouse. ComingSoon has photos of Mara coming out of her trailer, revealing what she will look like as character Lisbeth Salander. The American version is not a remake >> Posted 10.11.10 by Ryan
