On a day filled with fake, "gotcha" news stories, Paramount has decided to release a cut of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues that's no joke. Even if it still is.
This would mark the second version of Anchorman 2 that Paramount has released, following the Super-Sized R-Rated Version that promised "763 new jokes" and hit theaters for a week in February. This new cut, however, is all about the human drama.
"I know that Will [Ferrell] and I do many joke options for our movies, but I think what gets lost is the fact that underneath the laughs there's a very powerful drama at work," co-writer and director Adam McKay told Yahoo. "I'm just glad, with the no joke cut, audiences can finally appreciate the rawness and drama of Anchorman 2."
Is the world ready for an unfunny Anchorman? The snarky among us might mention that we already got one, but to prepare audiences the studio has released a clip from the "no jokes" version which can be viewed below. There's no better day than today to give it a try.
