Who should play Peter Parker's best frienemy?
Even though director Marc Webb has expressed some reluctance about leaping right back into the swing of things (pardon the pun) with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so soon after The Amazing Spider-Man, plans for the sequel are moving right along. We recently learned that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) has been offered the role of Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's college girlfriend and eventual wife in the Marvel comic books and his paramour in the Sam Raimi-directed trilogy. And, only days ago, Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx (Ray) teased fans by tweeting that he had "dressed up as Electro for Halloween," the villain known to be menacing Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) in the sequel, a bold casting move that Webb seemed to confirm when he later called Foxx an "electrifying" actor.
The only other new character that is known to be appearing in the sequel and that does not yet have an actor's name attached is Harry Osborn, son of Norman Osborn, whose company was directly responsible for the creation of both Spider-Man and the Lizard (Rhys Ifans). In the comic books, as in Raimi's movies, Harry was Peter's friend until his father, wearing the guise of the Green Goblin, is killed during a battle with Spider-Man. Harry then takes up the mantle of the Goblin and sets out to destroy Spider-Man. James Franco got his big break by landing the role of Harry in Raimi's trilogy. Who do you think has what it takes to fill Franco's shoes and go tit for tat with Garfield in the sequel?

Who Should Play the Demented Industrialist?
The Green Goblin wasn't the first Spider-Man villain and he's not the most powerful, but the colorful character has become Spidey's signature nemesis over the years, appearing in just about every board game, video game, and animated series based upon the wall-crawler's exploits, as well as featuring prominently in Sam Raimi's trilogy (played with great aplomb by Willem Dafoe). Norman Osborn, the wealthy industrialist who first took on the mantle of the Green Goblin, did not figure prominently in this summer's The Amazing Spider-Man, but director Marc Webb laid the groundwork for his big screen return, setting up Osborn's company, Oscorp, as the manufacturer of the biotech that inadvertently created both Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) and the Lizard (Rhys Ifans) and also inserting a tag scene at the end that shows a mysterious figure that may or may not be Norman Osborn.
While most speculate that Electro will be the primary villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 because of the Electro-ish lightning seen in the credits, the return of Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin are inevitable, especially in light of the recent news that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) will likely have "a very small part" in ASM2 as Peter's other major love interest, Mary Jane Watson, and that Sony intends to "build to the classic 'Death of Gwen Stacy' story" that saw the Green Goblin killing Peter's high school sweetheart. Help us choose the new Green Goblin: Who do you think has the drive and determination to play a billionaire industrialist willing to experiment on himself to save his own life?

Not since Lionsgate launched its hunt for the perfect actress to embody Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movie adaptation has there been as much excitement and anticipation for the casting of a female lead as there is about the role of Anastasia "Ana" Steele in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation.
Former TV exec-turned publishing superstar E.L. James likes Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) for the role of a naive young virgin who falls for an enigmatic entrepreneur with a BDSM fetish, but many fans who were reading Fifty Shades of Grey in its previous incarnation as Twilight fan fiction can't help but envision Kristen Stewart as Ana. Let us know who you think has the acting chops to play such a complex role by clicking on the link below.

The erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey may have started out as Twilight fan fiction, but after author E.L. James rewrote it and repackaged it as an original story — replacing Edward and Bella with Christian and Ana — it became a publishing phenomenon, earning James a spot on Time magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. Naturally, the popularity of the book started a bidding war in Hollywood and Universal Pictures and Focus Features ended up securing the rights to the entire trilogy of books in March of this year. Since that time, casting speculation has run rampant. Emma Watson was one of the first actresses rumored to be up for the role of Ana, followed by Miley Cyrus, Scarlett Johansson, and even the actress who played the character that originally inspired Ana, Kristen Stewart.
Well, forget all of those names. If James has anything to say about it, Shailene Woodley, the 20-year-old actress who more than held her own opposite George Clooney in The Descendants, will play the naive virgin who falls for a rich young man with a BDSM fetish in the movie adaptation. more about Fifty Shads of Grey >> Posted 08.21.12 by BrentJS
