"Trenchcoats. Cigarettes. Revolvers. Femme Fatales."
Journey back to a time when crime movies were populated by grifters, coppers, twists and molls, when heroes were fallible, sex was a weapon, and the only thing that was black-and-white was the film. Love crime noir? You'll love this! >> Posted 10.08.12 by BrentJS
British action director Simon West's new movie, The Expendables 2, opened nationwide today, but before he aimed his camera lens at Sly, Schwarz, Willis and the rest of the boys, West reunited with Nicolas Cage — who starred in West's very first movie, Con Air — on Stolen (formerly Medallion).
Cage stars as Will Montgomery, an accomplished bank robber who eventually gets caught and ends up spending eight years in prison. After being released, he goes to visit his daughter Alison (Sami Gayle), only to discover that she wants nothing to do with him. Alison may not want her dad in her life, but she needs him and his particular set of skills (apologies to Liam Neeson) when Will's old partner (Josh Lucas) kidnaps her and demands a $10 million ransom. When the cops won't help, Will is forced to do the only thing he can do to save his daughter — rob another bank. watch the trailer >> Posted 08.18.12 by BrentJS
Actress Angelina Jolie is known these days as much for her on-screen work as her humanitarian efforts, and her next project will combine both.
THR reports that Jolie is attached to star in the biopic Gertrude Bell, based on the life of the English writer, archaeologist and explorer known for her British Intelligence work in the Middle East during the early 20th Century. Her intelligence work was instrumental in administering the creation of the modern state of Iraq after the end of the Ottoman Empire. Despite traveling and working in a predominantly male world, Bell has been described as "one of the few representatives of His Majesty's Government remembered by the Arabs with anything resembling affection".
Screenwriter Jeffrey Caine (The Constant Gardener) is working to tailor the script for Jolie, which could be directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator), who is already producing through his Scott Free production company. Reportedly, the movie is one of three projects Scott might direct after he finishes his upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus, the sort-of prequel to his classic movie, Alien. According to the report, Scott is also looking at directing the drama Gucci, which would follow the famous fashion family through the 1970's and 80's, as well as serial killer mystery Child 44, which is set in Stalinist Russia.
Jolie is also set to appear in a sequel to last year's Salt. stone to star in one of two Lovelace biopics >> Posted 11.18.11 by Ryan

Henry Cavill has yet to be the newly-cast Superman for even a week, but that hasn't stopped opinions from flowing from all corners of the web, mostly concerning the proliferation of British actors playing iconic American superheroes since Cavill's casting means that Superman will join Batman (Christian Bale) and Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) in that trend.
None of that bothers Superman producer Christopher Nolan, who expressed his approval of Cavill's casting during an interview at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. HitFix reports that while Nolan offered his full support, he revealed that he had little to do with the decision. Who's Up for Lois Lane? >> Posted 02.04.11 by Ryan

A $150K Patek Philippe watch and $7K worth of damage to the Plaza Hotel in NYC apparently aren't the only losses Charlie Sheen will suffer due to his drunken, naked rampage last month. Now his guest for the evening, porn star Capri Anderson, may be angling for a payout as she claims Sheen grabbed her around the neck, locked her in the bathroom, and threatened to kill her. Not surprisingly, Sheen's lawyer called the allegations "completely false."
Speaking of porn stars, Lindsay Lohan has been dumped as Linda Lovelace in the porn-star biopic Inferno, replaced by Jennifer Aniston's new wingwoman Malin Akerman. Director Matthew Wilder wrote on Facebook that "the impossibility of insuring her and other issues have made it impossible for us to go forward." For her part, Lohan said she voluntarily quit the project because it "no longer felt right." Either way, Inferno was to be Lohan's comeback vehicle, which may now instead take the form of an out-of-control white Yukon Denali.
Another potential comeback will have to wait at least three more years as Blade star Wesley Snipes' appeal has been denied and is ordered to report to prison for a 2008 conviction of failure to file income taxes. The irony of Snipes being notified about where to surrender by the Bureau of Prisons or the U.S. Marshal was not lost on Celebritology's Jen Chaney, who reminds us Snipes co-starred with Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Downey Jr. in 1998's U.S. Marshals. During shooting for the comedy Wanderlust — set for an October 2011 release — Malin Akerman developed a massive girl-crush on single co-star Jennifer Aniston, telling People "Jennifer is one of my favorite people now. Not only is she an extraordinary actress, she is such a loving, genuine woman and fun. You want her to be your best friend. She's amazing." Akerman also exhorted men to "get out there! Nab her!" and claimed that "she's every guy's dream." Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, British model Paul Sculfor, and singer John Mayer were all unavailable for comment.
Batman fans looking for any news about The Dark Knight Rises — set for a July 20, 2012 release — got a morsel yesterday from Sir Michael Caine, who told Empire "script in January, shoot in May, finish in November." Caine neither confirmed nor denied rumors that Eddie Murphy will be cast as The Riddler.
No Joker, of course, for the Dark Knight sequel, but the SoHo apartment where Health Ledger died is finally back on the market, nearly three years after the actor's drug overdose. The 4,400-square-foot loft, located at 421 Broome Street — completely gutted and renovated — can be yours for $5M.
That's chump change compared to the True Blood house. The three-story, 12,045-square-foot Malibu pad overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is on the market for $35M. Posted 11.19.10 by reelz
Matt Mauro is the co-host for ReelzChannel TV's Hollywood Dailies and occasionally shares stories from the field.
On our last day at Sundance, we interviewed a number of stars from The Romantics, including Elijah Wood, Malin Akerman, and Jeremy Strong. Shooting the movie was like being in college again, they told me. They filmed in a small town with one motel, all staying in rooms down the hall from each other and going to the oyster bar or oyster restaurant.
All in all, we interviewed more than 90 actors and directors, which will be featured in upcoming episodes of Hollywood Dailies and a special Sundance Spotlight. Check out the ReelzChannel TV schedule for more details. Posted 01.27.10 by reelz
