It's Will Hunting vs. Jim Halpert in this politically and environmentally-charged dramedy
No matter where you stand on the issue of natural gas drilling, otherwise referred to as fracking, it looks like the upcoming indie drama Promised Land looks like it will build a case for both sides. Written by and starring Matt Damon (Contagion, Good Will Hunting) and John Krasinski (NBC's The Office), Promised Land follows corporate salesman Steve Butler (Damon) who is hired to sell the small farm community of McKinley on drilling for natural gas, which becomes a problem when a local farmer (Krasinski) tries to rally the town against it. The first trailer for the movie, it could be argued, may wear its intentions on its sleeves, but doesn't posit Damon as the villain or Krasinski as the hero, an element of character development that was key to the actor-writers. In January, Krasinski told MTV that the movie emulated the kind of movies made by Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country For Old Men, Fargo). unearthing the best trailers

The Internet loves a good freak out video — add a celebrity and it's sure to rack up the views. This is exactly what happened when, on Tuesday's Ellen DeGeneres show, Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) shared her love for sloths along with a clip.
For Bell's 31st birthday last summer, funnyman Dax Shepard surprised his wife with a special gift. Bell, an avid lover of sloths, knew what the gift was before even seeing it and was overcome with joy. And tears. As she told Ellen:
My entire life had been waiting for this moment where I would get to interact — I'm serious — with a sloth. watch the hysterical clip >> Posted 02.01.12 by reelz

With Marvel already past their initial March 1 deadline to find the lead in their upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America, conflicting reports have come out depicting who will eventually land the role.
While several contenders were announced last month, including John Krasinki (NBC's The Office), Scott Porter (Dear John), Mike Vogel (Cloverfield), Patrick Flueger (Brothers), Michael Cassidy (CW's Privileged), Wilson Bethel (CBS' The Young and the Restless), Chace Crawford (CW's Gossip Girl), and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy).
Fox News reported yesterday that Krasinski is the front runner of the pack, with sources telling the news organization that Krasinski is "close" to landing the role.
John has read 4 times and is doing screen tests. He has screen tested 2 times so far. It's very likely that he will be the new Captain America. He is a favorite among the keydecision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week. The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads. They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else.
Not so, according to Deadline Hollywood, which reports that Krasinski and most of the other contenders are out as more actors are being considered. According to the Deadline report, only Hedlund and Vogel remain from the original list, while the others are out of serious contention, including Krasinski (Cassidy already announced he had lost out on the role). Chris Evans, who has already taken part in a few comic book movies with Fantastic Four, Push, and the upcoming The Losers, is also being considered for the role.
One name that neither report has mentioned is Dane Cook, who used his Twitter page to announce that he too had auditioned for the role.
Im minus 7% body fat now, bones replaced w/lightweight scandium alloy! Had 2 get shredded 4 Captain America audition & standup tour.
While getting "shredded" just to do a stand-up comedy tour is a surprise in and of itself, Cook's inclusion in the Captain America audition process was a shock to comic book fans, one of which asked Cook to confirm his own Tweet.
@Marvel_Freshman r u really auditioning 4 Captain America?
Dc: I did already. They might b goin young. I say go RDJr [Robert Downey Jr.] route-gimme the part!
Whichever actor eventually get the coveted role, it looks like Marvel and director Joe Johnston are going to take their time in making a final casting decision. Posted 03.10.10 by Ryan
Earlier this month, The First Avenger: Captain America director Joe Johnston said he had to cast the role of Captain America before "March 1," and that the director was "[screen] testing five or six" guys between the ages of 23 and 32. Several reports have surfaced with the names of the potential candidates and according to THR, Marvel is looking at the following six actors for the part this week: John Krasinki (NBC's The Office), Scott Porter (Dear John), Mike Vogel (Cloverfield), Patrick Flueger (Brothers), Michael Cassidy (CW's Privileged), and Wilson Bethel (CBS' The Young and the Restless).
Marvel is also in talks with Chace Crawford (CW's Gossip Girl) to screen test as well and wanted to test Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) but hasn't yet due to scheduling conflicts. Jensen Ackles (My Bloody Valentine 3-D) is also having scheduling issues.
Johnston admitted he's looking to cast the role with "a complete unknown," which may or may not be a strike against a few of the candidates, namely Krasinski. However, the report cautions that it is likely that none of the potential candidates get cast in the role. Chris Hemsworth was cast as the lead role of Thor after several rounds of testing, but never tested for the part himself. Posted 02.26.10 by Ryan
