After releasing not one but two preview clips in as many days this week, Marvel has suddenly become a touch more conservative with their latest promotional offerings for The Avengers, just as it started to look like fans were going to be able to watch the entire movie in one-minute-or-less clips. Instead, Marvel has revealed a batch of new images (via ComingSoon) that will seem slightly familiar to those that have been following the comic book adaptation closely.
There's a more close-up shot of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), still stuck behind monitors like she was in a pair of stills released last month. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is seen tied to a chair (much like she was in The Avengers's first preview clip) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is seen standing in his armor (or perhaps it's just his armor as it was depicted here). Don't worry, MTV has also released an action shot of Captain America (Chris Evans) leaping out of harm's way (though it may be just a screenshot from the movie's Super Bowl ad). Did we mention there are also some new character posters? see the images and the new posters >> Posted 04.19.12 by Ryan
Another week, another barrage of preview clips from Marvel's The Avengers.
Last week saw the release of three Avengers preview clips. The first saw S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) discuss the Tesseract (or Cosmic Cube), while the second saw Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) discussing who has the best tactical advantage while Stark enjoyed a drink in Stark Tower. The week ended with a clip that showed Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) fighting side-by-side against Loki's army.
The latest clip is again, dialogue heavy, as Nick Fury (Jackson) discusses the meaning of power with Loki (Hiddleston) after the latter has been imprisoned in a S.H.I.E.L.D. cell made for the Hulk. Thor (Hemsworth), Captain America (Evans) Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hill (Smulders), and Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) listen in as they talk. watch the clip >> Posted 04.16.12 by Ryan
The Avengers has so much potential to be a mega-hit — the superheroes of Marvel's Iron Man, First Avenger: Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor movies all "assembled" in one movie! — that it seems like everyone wants in on the action, from obvious merchandising tie-ins like coloring books, games, and toys to less obvious ones like cologne (we're not sure we want to know what the Hulk smells like, let alone smell like the Hulk).
The latest to get in on the action is the Wyndham hotel group, which recently launched the HotelsAssemble website. Through the site you can, of course, book a hotel stay, but you can also download a set of awesome wallpapers featuring the star-studded cast of The Avengers — the Hulk wallpaper offers our best look yet at Mark Ruffalo as the "jade giant" — and also play Avengers-themed puzzles and games, answer trivia, read digital comic books, and more. download Avengers wallpapers >> Posted 04.11.12 by BrentJS
Last week, Marvel released the first preview clip for The Avengers, which saw Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) tied to a chair and talking to S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) on a cell phone only to kick and punch her way to freedom. With the movie's release date less than a month away, promotion is at a fever pitch, and many might assume that the next preview clip might also be an action-packed scene from the upcoming comic book adaptation, perhaps more of the forest-set confrontation between Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) or even more of Tony Stark (Downey) talking with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in Stark Tower about who will defeat whom before throwing Stark out a window.
Instead, while appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, Cobie Smulders brought a clip that sees her character of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill talk with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) about the Tesseract — known as the Cosmic Cube in the Marvel comic books and previously shown in Captain America: The First Avenger and in the post-credits scene in Thor — and how to maintain security measures around it. If you like action as much as rapid-fire dialogue, consider this clip "action-packed." watch the clip >> Posted 04.10.12 by Ryan
After the release of three limited edition posters of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), there are now more posters for the upcoming comic book adaptation The Avengers. Conceived as a gift to those who attend the 12-hour marathon of the movies that comprise the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" and all lead up to The Avengers, the new posters show the other characters from the movie — Thor (Chris Hemsworth); Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo); S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).
For those keeping track, there's no poster yet of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) or the team's adversarial target, Loki (Tom Hiddleston). see the full posters and Whedon's interview >> Posted 03.13.12 by Ryan
Throughout the two released trailers (and Super Bowl ad) for The Avengers, fans have been given plenty of sneak peeks at "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" For instance, fans had to geek out at Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) fighting not only together but also with each other, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) leaping off a building with an arrow drawn, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) running through an exploding hallway, and S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) admitting to Loki (Tom Hiddleston) that he is in a desperate situation.
What fans haven't seen is any footage of Cobie Smulders as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill, outside of being briefly spoken to by fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the comic book adaptation's second trailer. Marvel has responded by filling the void with two new photos from The Avengers that focus solely on Smulders as the comic book character. check out the new photos >> Posted 03.02.12 by Ryan
The upcoming The Avengers adaptation made an impression over the weekend at the New York Comic-Con where Chris Evans (Captain America), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Agent Hill), and surprise guest Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner aka The Hulk) all made appearances alongside Marvel president of production Kevin Feige, with Feige making the biggest announcement by admitting that Marvel is already thinking about an Avengers 2.

[Iron Man 3] will be the first of what we sort of refer to as phase two of this... saga that will culminate, God willing, in Avengers 2.
While not trying to out-do last year's "assembled" cast line-up of the upcoming The Avengers movie that was the highlight of the convention, Marvel Studios is still using Comic-Con to help promote the comic book adaptation by releasing more of the concept art character posters that started with Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) last week.
Marvel began unveiling more posters on Friday, beginning with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and slowly expanding with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) with Agents Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), and, finally, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). All the posters were available at Marvel's booth. what else did Marvel do during Comic-Con? >> Posted 07.25.11 by Ryan
Fans of How I Met Your Mother know Cobie Smulders as the Canada-loving Robin Scherbatsky but movie fans might soon know her as Maria Hill.
Deadline is reporting that Smulders is close to being cast in the epic superhero movie The Avengers as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Maria Hill.
The casting news comes after Samuel J. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel universe, dropped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and spill the news that he would get a female sidekick in Joss Whedon's upcoming Avengers. Now, the role could be Smulders, who auditioned for the role Friday, within the week. Cobie smulder came close to playing wonder woman >> Posted 02.05.11 by reelz
Last April, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that his nine-movie deal with Marvel did not include the upcoming Thor, but would include Captain America. During an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jackson went back on his own word and revealed that he will, in fact, appear in Thor.

In the next month or so, I have to do one day on Thor, and I gotta do another day on Captain America, and in April we start Avengers — the big deal with everybody. Thor and Captain America are pretty much done, but I haven’t done my part in them yet. I’m just connective tissue for them to join The Avengers.
